Cyrillic keyboard layouts: Any tips?

I’m having an issue with my keyboard layout. I really need to use the Russian Cyrillic script, but whenever I switch my system language settings to Russian, the key mapping feels completely off—everything is scrambled and doesn't match where I expect the letters to be. If I switch the language setting to Mexican instead, the layout feels much more intuitive, but then I run into the problem of missing specific Russian characters. Is there a way to fix the layout so it actually works correctly for Russian?

Maybe you should just go get some alphabet stickers. Or, I don't know, maybe try using an on-screen keyboard to type things out first, then just copy and paste whatever you need wherever it needs to go:
