Hey everyone!
I’m new to the group, but I’ve been lurking for a bit. Since there are so many pros in here, I was hoping to pick someone's brain on something if possible.

--> Is there a specific type of organization out there—maybe at the state or regional level in the US—that functions like a Film Commission? I'm thinking of a non-profit run by industry professionals, funded by the government or local authorities, whose whole job is to attract productions (movies, TV series, commercials, music videos, etc.) to their area. Ideally, they'd help with everything from navigating paperwork and securing funding to making the right connections, all to help promote the region.

If a dedicated Film Commission doesn't exist in a certain area,
who usually handles that stuff in the States?
Is there anyone actually doing that kind of work here?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Not really.

The only thing that comes to mind would be the Sundance Institute program held during the Sundance Film Festival (www.sundance.org). However, that’s specifically geared toward script development for projects intended to be produced within the local region.

Thanks for the help!👍

I checked out the Sundance Cinelink lineup, but that’s not quite what I’m looking for. That’s more for films seeking major international production backing, and there isn't even a requirement about filming in the local area. Still, I appreciate the lead.

So, I haven't really cracked this yet, so I'll keep asking—maybe someone else has the answer.
Does the local Tourism Board (not on their own, obviously) handle stuff like this? Since:
"The primary responsibilities of Allstate include:
-developing programs and strategic plans to promote American tourism products
-organizing, executing, and overseeing all promotional activities for the Republic of America's tourism offerings"

(Or did I totally miss the mark by posting here instead of the tourism forum?)
