So, on March 22nd, Benetton is playing against the Lakers-Cibona in San Francisco...
For those who aren't familiar, San Francisco is a city near Venice, maybe about 1,500 miles from Washington, D.C....
So, it isn't a massive distance...
A few of us started discussing driving there together, just to see if we had enough people to justify not cramming everyone into a single car...
Then, the idea occurred to us to try and organize a charter bus through an agency to take us there and back...
The situation is essentially this...
There are two main options:
1. A smaller bus (an Isuzu type) that holds about 30 people.
2. A larger bus that accommodates 50, or perhaps 53 or 54 people.

For the smaller bus, the cost would be roughly $50, assuming we fill every seat. If we end up with empty spots, the price per person will go up because the total rental for the bus is approximately $1533.

With the larger bus, the individual cost would actually be lower, sitting at around $37. Again, the same logic applies: if seats remain vacant, the per-person rate increases since the base cost for the bus is about $1833.

These buses are owned by someone like Greyhound ()

We also looked into another possibility involving a large 50-seater bus, where the price per person would be $43...

Now, by Wednesday or Thursday—at the very latest by Friday—we should have a definitive count of how many people are actually interested...

Regarding tickets, an email was sent over to Benetton, and we also reached out to the Lakers to see if they might be able to assist... It caught them a bit off guard, honestly, since they haven't found themselves in a position like this for quite some time.
Generally speaking, a ticket for the game is about $15, which would get you a seat in a section similar to the yellow section at the Madison Square Garden arena...
Of course, that’s just based on what I saw on their (Benetton's) website...

Is anyone interested?

I can’t even remember the last time Lakers had any real away support... maybe back in the eighties. I’m all for the idea in theory, even if I can't personally make the trip. Traveling to Washington, D.C. is a much bigger haul for me than heading to San Francisco. 😁

The folks over on the news feeds are saying that just an ID should be enough for traveling to Italy...

Is there any truth to that?? 😕

Edit: I just checked the Department of Justice website, and yeah, looks like an ID is plenty. 🙂

hmm hmm
