So, basically, you're attacking someone you've been buddies with in real life for years just because of some trivial online title and a wild theory. Something else, the Admin needs to have a vision for sustainability and stability suited for this modern forum era. You haven't been around long enough to realize how many options have been disabled and what kind of restrictions are placed on the forum just to keep it somewhat stable. Not to mention how much he used to tinker with the site for weeks at a time. Do you think the Almighty was pointing himself out back then? He didn't care, as long as the money kept coming—he'd let IT try to save what they could, and bam, post limits, no signatures or links, fewer emojis, deleting major threads just to clear space... hello, in this age of bots, he was nowhere to be found. Then the pandemic hit, and suddenly, "let's see what can be saved," and the forum god suddenly decides to listen to the people and see what's bothering them. After all those years. And don't get me started on how he decided to show up and be active right on the USA! Pushing his own agenda and just being self-indulgent. He doesn't bother asking those who have been there for years what bothers them or what can be fixed; you won't get a single word from him.

The reaction from everyone who was active on the USA speaks volumes about what kind of choice she is, but neither she nor he gives a single damn about why this happened, but hey, you have your vanguard up there, enjoy yourselves. 🤷

Technically, those options *have* to be turned off because they weren't designed for a forum of this scale. vBulletin was relevant when people were still browsing the web on dial-up, and it simply can't handle this kind of traffic. Look:

Regardless, the administration's approach to this forum is flawed—meaning they have no approach at all. I won't get into the specific reasons why; frankly, I don't care. If the platform being offered isn't up to par, I'll just point my digital curiosity toward any of the billion other destinations out there. 🤷

Thank you, Road Runner, because I experienced exactly what you described, and there were even posts that—among other things—felt like direct attacks against me.

However, I didn't step away because of that recent incident; rather, I had already succumbed to burnout, which I suspect was quite apparent to everyone. That is precisely why I requested that new moderators be appointed.

Everyone seems to be expressing how hurt they feel, and while I truly am sorry it has come to this, I believe that in this particular situation, I also have a right to feel wounded, given how much of my time and energy I poured into ensuring we all had a pleasant experience here in the US. I suspect many of you aren't even aware of the sheer scale of that effort. And yet, this is the result we're left with. It’s quite devastating, though unfortunately, there is nothing more I can do at this stage.

Honestly, you were one of the best moderators we had in the US. Sure, maybe you were a little too soft sometimes, but you moderated with actual logic—or if I use a Pokémon analogy, you did it with heart. 👍

No, that isn't quite what I meant; I actually think Lata is going to be an excellent moderator—though, in truth, she already is. It seems you expressed similar sentiments in one of your previous posts, laying out some rather compelling arguments that I find myself in complete agreement with. 🙂
Her other qualities aren't particularly relevant in this context. If someone finds themselves unwilling to engage with her, they aren't stuck with just one option; they can always turn to Ludica instead.
It is a bit unfortunate that we don't have a line of volunteers practically begging for moderator positions. Most people seem genuinely puzzled by the idea that anyone would actually want to take on such a role. It’s a stroke of luck that we have individuals with genuine enthusiasm at all, though it’s a pity there aren't more of them so we could be a bit more selective about who we pick based on personality alone. However, now that Anderlon has stepped up, if anyone is looking for a way to contribute or show they're interested, this is certainly the moment to do so.

Less is more, plain and simple. If you want to debate vision or moderation here in the USA, let's move that conversation over to Reddit.
