When it comes to movies and TV shows, torrenting is definitely the way to go. I've been using BitComet, but I just installed Azureus, so I suppose I'll give that a shot and see how it performs...
For music, Soulseek is my absolute go-to because you can find so much incredible underground stuff on there that isn't anywhere else...
I still have DC++ installed on my machine, though I don't really bother with it much since I can find pretty much everything I need on Soulseek anyway...
So, yeah, Soulseek is basically the gold standard for me (I'm not entirely sure how it holds up with mainstream hits, but for the kind of niche stuff I listen to, it's honestly unbeatable)...

Back when I was stuck on dial-up, I used to rely on Napster, and honestly, it delivered everything I was looking for. But now that I’ve finally upgraded to broadband, I’ve switched over to LimeWire because Napster just won't connect properly on this connection anymore—I haven't the slightest clue why that is! To be honest, though, I'm pretty frustrated with LimeWire; it feels incredibly sluggish. It takes an average of 24 hours just to grab a single movie, even when I have anywhere from 10 to 50 seeders active. It's driving me a little crazy, and I'm genuinely at a loss as to what I should switch to next...

Hi
I installed DC++, but whenever I try to use the search function for a band or anything else, the display just says "searching" without ever showing any actual results.
Has anyone else run into this issue?

Thanks.

Have you connected to a hub yet? 🙂That's step one. But before you try that, make sure you've shared your music directory. You need to ensure your total shared content exceeds whatever the minimum requirement is for entry.

For instance, if a hub requires 1 GB, you’ll need to share more than that; otherwise, you won't be able to get in.

Brandon Harris88, thanks for the advice.
I didn't even realize I had to share my directory.
The problem is, I have no clue how to actually create one.
I can't seem to find the option anywhere.

File -> Settings... -> Sharing -> Add folder

Once you select the folders you intend to share, allow a moment for the indexing process to complete the file list.

The software operates on a 'fair use' model; if you want to download from others, you have to contribute something yourself. In my view, that makes this program superior to the rest.

Maybe I'm just losing my mind here,
I went to check out Napster, but I can't find the "add folder" option anywhere to save my life.
Perhaps there's a component I forgot to download.

The 'Add Folder' button is located in the bottom right corner 🙂

Feno Men said:Hey there!

I'm looking for some advice—which P2P program should I be using?

In my own experience, Morpheus is the way to go. It’s solid, even if it feels a little sluggish at times; honestly, for a standard home broadband connection, it works perfectly. It manages to push through to the maximum speed possible, even when your upload speeds are hitting a bit of a wall. For grabbing music or videos, it's just great. 👍

Hey Brandon Harris88
I haven't had any internet access lately, so I've been out of the loop.
Look, I just can't wrap my head around this. You basically need a PhD to navigate this damn DC++ software.
There is absolutely no "Add Folder" button in the bottom right corner.
I've tried every other option available, but I still can't figure out how to set up an upload list.

I'm leaving this broken DC++ mess to you geniuses. I'm moving on to something actually user-friendly.😬
