What a complete turnaround 🙏

To be honest, I didn't even think it would be this close

That moment with Furyk, where he starts celebrating only to see the ball roll right out of the cup... man, what a heartbreak

It all came down to millimeters, and it happened in several matches. A truly legendary match 👍

Revenge for '99 is pure salt. YES! Huge props to the guys. I honestly didn't think we'd pull off defending the Ryder Cup. 👍

And man... hats off to Ian Poulter... he basically carried the whole squad on his back with those performances... seriously, respect.

I mean, Ian Poulter is just a total character to me. I love watching him play, and honestly, his whole lifestyle and golf apparel line is pretty cool too. He’s definitely got a wild side... 😛

Poulter's alright, but Sergio Garcia is definitely the biggest star in my book. Probably because every time I see him on Reuters, I get this feeling like we actually have our own homegrown pro on Team USA 😁

Is anyone actually following the first major of the season, The Masters? Or am I just shouting into the void here?

Right now, Miguel Cabrera and Studs Snedeker are sitting pretty at 7 under par heading into the final round, while everyone is keeping a nervous eye on an aggressive Tiger Woods, who’s trailing by four strokes.
Yesterday was a total rollercoaster. Jason Day had it in his grasp—he was leading the pack all day long—but he completely fell apart during the closing stretch. He held steady at -7 until those last two holes, where he absolutely choked it away with two bogeys...

I can only hope there are still some actual fans of this great game left on this forum...

Yesterday was actually pretty wild; Jason Day completely blew it after leading most of the day. He held steady at -7 until the last two holes, then just totally fell apart with two bogeys.

There’s gotta be some other people on this forum who actually enjoy the PGA Tour, right?

Oh, they're here. It's just that a lot of us skip the coverage on Augusta National because the commentators kind of ruin the whole vibe.

😁

I used to have an English commentator when I tuned into Augusta National. Now they swapped him out for an American one. Just a byproduct of localizing the broadcast. Since I'm no PGA Tour expert, it doesn't bother me too much.

There are plenty of us who just stick to Sky Sports instead...

Greetings to everyone here; I’m looking to dive into the conversation on this forum because I find myself with quite a few burning questions 😉

I was wondering if anyone in this community approaches the PGA Tour on a more professional level? To be specific, I am trying to wrap my head around how the tournament circuit and the various leagues actually function here in the States and across the rest of the US?

Up until this point, my athletic life has been centered around team sports, but I’ve reached a stage where I want to pivot toward an individual pursuit... I haven't quite locked in my final decision yet, though the PGA Tour remains firmly at the top of my list of contenders 😉

Before I go out and start dropping serious cash on high-end gear and really committing myself to the grind, I wanted to pick your brains on a few other things, and I truly hope someone might be willing to share some insight. Is it actually feasible to find success in this sport? Is it realistic to expect to be winning smaller local tournaments within a single year? What is the landscape like regarding tournament structures and prize money here in the US? Can one realistically reach a professional tier where the sport becomes a primary source of income? How much training time should I be looking at on a weekly basis? Furthermore, is it even possible to set up a decent practice range on a bit of extra acreage back at one's own house? And just generally speaking, what kind of investment are we talking about versus the potential returns in this game?

Jerry Peterson3 said:Hey everyone, I’m looking to jump into this forum because I have a few things on my mind. 😉

I was wondering if anyone here plays the PGA Tour at a semi-pro level? Basically, I'm trying to get a feel for how the tournament circuit and leagues actually work here in the States and across Europe.

I've spent most of my life playing team sports, but I'm thinking about pivoting to something individual. I haven't fully committed yet, but the PGA Tour is definitely one of my top contenders right now. 😉

Before I go out and drop a ton of cash on gear and really dive into it, I figured I'd pick your brains. Hopefully, someone can shed some light on this. Is it even realistic to make it big in the PGA Tour? Could I realistically be winning small local tournaments within a year? What’s the scene like for tournaments and prize money around the US or in places like Europe? Is there a path where you can actually earn a living off the game? How much training time are we talking about? Also, is it feasible to just set up a little practice range in my backyard if I have enough space? And generally speaking, what kind of investment versus payoff are we looking at in this sport?

Honestly, the only real pros you'll find around here are the instructors.
If you want to play professionally, you need more than just skill—you need insane amounts of practice.

Here's an example of someone who didn't even play the sport originally:

Take this guy, for instance—someone who has never even picked up a club in his life:

Do I really need to join some fancy private club just to take one of those qualifying tests? And can I actually go solo, without being part of some established squad, to compete in tournaments? Is there even any prize money or anything worth chasing at these events?

The US Open is officially underway, but we’ve been hit with some absolutely miserable weather right out of the gate. It's completely messing with the tournament schedule and the flow of play, which is infuriating... though I suppose we can only hope things clear up soon so we can actually see some decent golf

Phil Mickelson is holding onto the lead for now, though several players are breathing down his neck. Generally speaking, the scores have been pretty lackluster so far, mostly due to those miserable weather conditions we've been dealing with. The course finally dried out this afternoon, so things should be looking perfect for play tomorrow. We’re also hoping to see Adam Scott climb a bit higher up the leaderboard ☕

I’m just talking to myself here, so whatever, I don't really care what anyone thinks.

The weather is absolutely perfect right now. Tiger Woods should be stepping onto the tee in about fifteen minutes, and we're looking at a fantastic evening of PGA Tour action ahead...

Weather is perfect today. Tiger should be hitting the Tee in about 15 minutes. It's going to be a great night of PGA Tour.

I'll be watching along with you today 🙂

Can't catch everything, so I missed the first three days. Phil Mickelson is still holding the lead, but the leaderboard is crowded. Could get intense tonight.

I’m really hoping Charl Schwartzel can pull this off and just bury the competition; there are way too many players sitting right there within two or three strokes of him. It's going to be absolute chaos when the pressure hits...☕

Maybe the drama carries over into tomorrow. This tournament has an 18-hole playoff scheduled for Monday, so who knows.

Great US Open. Props to Rose—it was about time an Englishman finally snagged a major...

And a massive shoutout 🙏 to the guy at the golf club. I swear he spent probably one whole day out of the four just commentating, and you couldn't hear even a hint of exhaustion or a lack of "excitement" regarding what he was broadcasting. 👍
