I suppose I am looking for some kind of software that would allow me to burn a CD so I can actually listen to it on a standard home stereo system. When I say audio format, I am referring to the specific type you find on commercial music CDs, if that makes sense. And, obviously, I would prefer a program that is free of charge. Thanks much.🙏 🙏 🙏

I don't mean to step on your toes, but...

If you have MP3s on your computer and you want to burn them to a CD in audio format, you can just use Nero (any version).

You could always just use the iTunes write to disk plugin to convert everything to WAV if you really want to.

And what's the point of having iTunes and all those plugins once she's got everything dialed in perfectly with Nero?

Good to know. You can never have too much information, right? Besides, iTunes uses one of the best MP3 decoders out there, so that’s hardly a drawback.

The difference in sound quality is night and day when you're running things through an iTunes decoder.

It’s a bit more legwork, sure, but the audio upgrade makes it totally worth the hassle.

Look, let’s not get carried away about audio quality. If you’re just burning CDs, Nero gets the job done just fine. But if you actually care about how things sound? Just buy the original disc.

Are you just trying to sell me on Nero, or do you actually have to praise it this much?
People have more options than ever these days, which is great. There isn't just one "best" way to do things anymore; every choice comes with its own set of pros and cons.

Everyone knows the Nero decoder is pretty much garbage. Now, the iTunes one? That’s actually decent quality, though I can't be a hundred percent sure if it's included in the free version. There are plenty of other options out there too, but honestly, those two are probably the only ones most people actually have lying around. If you like them, go for it, but I'm not holding my breath.

I’ve been playing around with this lately. If you're working with MP3s at 128 kbps or higher—like 160 or 192—you should definitely stick with iTunes.

Here is my little workflow.

I use iTunes 10, which I downloaded and then actually registered (And believe me, it's worth it! ).

First, open up the Windows Media Player

Then, look for the option for your devices—maybe CD-R D: or E: depending on what your drive is called.
Just drag your chosen MP3s right in there.

Once they're loaded (and feel free to reorder them however you like...)
just hit BURN.

Pick your burning speed. Personally, I recommend staying low—maybe 4, 8, 12, or 16. Slowing it down usually yields much better quality, and that's really it.

HAPPY BURNING!

Please skip the "genius" suggestions about cracking software or anything similar. It’s strictly against the rules here, and posts will be deleted without warning.

RealPlayer comes with a Nullsoft disc writer plugin in the free version, which is all you really need. Once you have a .wav file, any basic burning program can handle the rest.
