Hammer horror films are absolute genius to me. I grew up watching them, and even though my definition of a "good movie" has changed over the years, I can never truly let them go, regardless of what anyone says about their quality.
So, that seems to be the whole "issue" with why you didn't connect with Coppola. 🙂 If you grew up on Hammer horror, it’s hard for anything from later horror productions to actually creep you out. The stuff we were terrified of as kids is almost impossible to top once you've experienced those specific fears. We grew up, and then we just stopped being afraid. 🙂
