They'll just have you lie down, feel around your abdomen and groin, and maybe check your testicles too, just to rule out a hydrocele.

So I can just go to a private specialist then? No need to deal with the local clinic?

If we're talking about a lump, does it actually have to be felt? Like, is this kind of thing where a bump is always a mandatory symptom, or can it hide? Because I've been poking around myself and honestly, I haven't felt a damn thing—but hey, I'm just some guy, not a medic, and I don't see anything on the surface either.

Also, is there any chance those pains were just kidney stones or some grit passing through?

If we're talking about a lump, does it have to be palpable? Is this kind of condition one where a lump is an absolute requirement for a diagnosis, or could it stay hidden? I’ve been feeling around and haven't found anything, though I'm obviously just a layman—there isn't anything visible on the surface either.

Is there any chance those pains were actually just kidney stones or some grit in my system?

What you're describing sounds like a hernia, where there's a gap in the muscle wall that allows the intestine to poke through. You don't necessarily need to feel a distinct lump for it to be real; a surgeon will be able to feel that defect during a physical exam. They'll also determine if there's a risk of the bowel becoming trapped or strangulated, which is when it can't be pushed back in.

There are plenty of surgeons in private practice. Honestly, I don't see why you couldn't just schedule an appointment with a specialist at a local hospital rather than rushing to the emergency room right this second.

Tyler Bennett73 said:It’s happened twice now—this pain I’ve never felt before. I'll try to break down both times...

1. The first time was while I was walking around my apartment listening to music. I stopped and tried to twist my torso to the right, and suddenly I felt this... sensation. Not sure how to describe it. Like a vein just snapped tight. I didn't think much of it at the time and headed for the armchair. As I leaned back into the cushion to relax and watch TV, the pain hit. It was right in that area where the left leg meets the groin... you know, that junction. I went to bed and stretched out. The pain lasted a few seconds, then vanished once I stood up.

2. The second time, I got home from college and started stretching out when it hit again. This one lasted longer. If I’m sitting, it’s fine. But if I lie down and stretch my legs out, I feel it all through that half of my body—from the left side where the leg meets the torso, up to just below the stomach, right at that crease. Even walking upright triggers it. I actually remembered my gym coach telling me once that if you get hit in the groin, doing a few squats helps. That’s basically what I did here. Thankfully, it's gone now. When I was hunched over or sitting, there was no pain, but stretching out or walking caused that pulling sensation, like a tightened tendon... Oh, and one more thing. My anatomy sort of retracted during the episode. I don't know if it was the pain or just pure panic, because I'm a total hypochondriac when it comes to my health, and this really rattled me.

Any idea what this could be? Just a heads up, there were ten days between the two episodes. And that night after the first one, I had some drinks and spent the whole week doing crunches.

Could it be from sitting in those cramped lecture hall seats at the university? They're tiny, and since I'm tall, I have to spread my legs out just to fit, so maybe I'm too constricted.

Could it be the alcohol? I've been out to about ten parties this month, though I wasn't going overboard.

Or the ab workouts? I've been doing a massive amount of crunches—around 800—maybe it's some kind of inflammation.

I know this is a bit of a mess, but I'm still a little shaken up since the second bout happened just an hour or two ago...

Thanks for any input.

Hey! I had the exact same thing happen yesterday. Did you see a doctor? What did they say? Thanks.
