Two absolute legends of modern Hollywood. Both totally capable of dropping an unexpected masterpiece on an unsuspecting audience. Video game adaptations are their bread and butter.
Who’s actually got the better directing skills here?

Who pulls the bigger crowds?

Who's doing it better?

WHO'S GONNA WIN???

I think there’s a short clip floating around somewhere online AVB (which is basically just Anderson versus Boll).
Has anyone actually sat through it yet? 😁

Anyway, slyrider16, people are having some pretty intense debates about Bollo over on the Bloodrayne topic.

Hmm, let's see.

Paul Anderson:

Resident Evil is garbage. Giving it one mediocre point.

Event Horizon is decent gothic horror. Set on a spaceship, though! They actually went through the trouble of providing some makeshift explanation for why the ship is being hit by lightning storms. If they had their way, they probably would have thrown in a creaky wooden door somewhere, too. It isn't terrible, but that’s the problem: the movie is a *horror* film. A horror film should actually be scary.

Uwe Boll — I haven't seen anything by him, but any director whose name is UWE BOLL (please excuse my pronunciation) has to be a total failure. Plus, the guy already has two films on the IMDb list of the 100 worst movies, and he isn't even 40 yet. Quite an achievement!

Yes, just as Richard Hernandez13 mentioned: there’s already a thread about BloodRayne further down, though I personally feel "Uwe Boll hate club" would serve as a far more fitting title. 😬

Wait, Üwe Böll?

Man, I’m always the last one to get it. But whatever, a legend on the scale of Mr. Boll (sounds like someone out of a Roger Moore James Bond movie) deserves more than just two threads. He deserves a hundred and two... Boll !!!
I gotta check out House of the Dead. That's still in video rental stores, right?
The only thing I don't get is why they're even making a movie out of Far Cry. There's zero plot in that game. Just give me a Doom movie any time of the day. (Though this one they're filming sounds pretty crappy)

Do you honestly think Mr. Boll cares about things like narrative depth?

😁

If you really want to see what I mean, go check out the thread on BloodRayne; there's plenty of material there to help you diagnose whatever is going on with his mental state.

Yes. And why on earth are you adding accent marks to the letters?

So, I finally sat down yesterday and watched one of those Uwe Boll movies, Alone in the Dark.

I don't know, I guess I was expecting—based on what I read online—that this guy might be some kind of modern-day Ed Wood. You know, like, the movies are terrible, but they're at least fun to watch because they're so weird. But instead, 😲 I mean, the movie is just so bad that I could barely force myself to finish it. It’s honestly such a mess. Not just the directing, but the writing, the acting... everything is just off.

The worst part is, it’s one of those movies that's so bad you can't even laugh at it.

Yeah, I mean, no matter how little he knows, he's still miles ahead of UB.🙂

What the hell? Why are you guys tripping? Paul Anderson directed Soldier and Event Horizon—as far as I'm concerned, those two movies alone make up for any other bad stuff he’s ever done or will ever do.

Exactly. That one scene from hell in Event Horizon...
