Flash content stopped working—did I miss an update?

How can I get a digital textbook containing Flash objects to actually run?

For a few days now, it just displays the Flash logo and nothing else happens.

I'm pretty sure there's some workaround to "force" it to work—everything was running fine until recently, and I haven't installed anything new lately.

Anyone have any ideas on what to do?

It looks like Adobe started planting a little "time bomb" in Flash back in some older version, which finally triggered on January 12th. I guess you could try hunting down an ancient build from before they baked that in... but honestly, I'm not sure how much of a difference it'll actually make. Most browsers have already pulled the plug on Flash anyway.

I'll try to hunt down which specific version that was—since we're dealing with internal program files and everything displays right within the software interface rather than through a browser or webpage, I'm hopeful this might actually work.

It really feels like things have gone a bit overboard, doesn't it? If you actually need any of the older versions from a couple of years back, just let me know—I still have them tucked away somewhere—but since I’m running xpu, if I remember correctly, I think I still see some websites running those old Flash banners on my screen.

Just give me a shout if that matters to you; I haven't personally used Flash in ages, but I kept all my backups from back in the day.

That's exactly why I'm always a little hesitant about hitting that update button, especially when it comes to new OS releases or browser updates; it always feels like I'm being forced to swallow someone else's brand-new "revolutionary" nonsense.

Maybe you could try using that SuperNova Google Chrome extension
It handles a decent chunk of Flash content, though—granted—it won't catch everything.
You just grab it and it installs right as a Google Chrome extension.
