Essential cult classics you've never seen

Hey, just a heads up—The Godfather is on ABC tonight.

I've never actually seen it... and I don't plan on watching it tonight either.

Honestly, I’ve been itching to sit down and watch "The Searchers" by Akira Kurosawa, starring Toshiro Mifune...

So I’m watching it right now, and honestly? It’s getting a bit stale...
I have zero clue why this thing swept so many awards.🙄

I honestly can’t remember a single one I haven't seen, but I used to go out of my way to avoid all those massive blockbusters everyone was hyping up in theaters... I don't know, maybe I was just being difficult. Eventually, I ended up watching Hair, though I could never really get into it, then some Travolta-esque flicks from the late seventies, and then there was Jaws... I skipped most of the Rocky movies too (except for a few scenes, like last night when they showed Rocky on TV)...

To be honest, I'm pretty fed up with all these overrated (or genuinely great) movies that people swear by for their entire lives, acting like they've never seen or experienced anything smarter... It's all just cinema... 😉

I haven't even touched any of those "anthology" classics by Fellini, Kurosawa-esque directors, or Bergman-esque types... and the rest.
From my generation, 😁 I still haven't even sat through Natural Born Killers.

I’ve been catching up on some Kurosawa-esque classics lately, but I haven't gotten around to Rashomon yet. Dammit, they actually screened it at a theater here in the States recently, but it was dubbed into German. 😠

I haven't seen The Godfather yet.

I intend to watch it eventually, primarily because I am growing tired of people's incessant reactions to my initial statement. 🙄

A new 'anthology' for 'our generation': IMDB.com's top 50 indie (if that even means anything anymore) films.
I've managed to sit through 38 of them 😉
Some names on this list weren't even on my radar 😕 Honestly, I'm approaching the list in no particular order. It’s too hard to pick a "best" one, so the ranking doesn't really matter much to me. How many have you guys checked off your list?

He only walked away with two Oscars.

Neither impresses me or anyone else. The characters are paper-thin.

I haven't actually sat down to watch The Godfather yet (Sex and the City was on the other channel 😁), so I suppose I'll have to borrow it from the local video rental shop eventually. Maybe.🙂

I watched The Godfather recently (before they started airing it on TV again),
and it absolutely floored me, even as a woman. 🙄 😛

Like mirrorball would say, that's basically the soul of the movie. 🙏
I think the film deserved those Oscars more than anything.
The whole point—the family dynamics, the loyalty, the devotion....
etc, etc, etc............................

And yeah, I watched it again when it was on TV. 😉

As for The Godfather, I suppose someone once remarked it was basically just an adult film aired on a secondary cable channel.

I figured someone would take issue with this. I actually intended to finally sit down and watch it, but I guess I don't get to decide what stays on network TV 😢 😁
