One of my absolute favorite domesticπŸ˜‰ films. It’s been ages since I last sat down with itβ€”thankfully, you can still track down a digital copy or even an old DVD if you look hard enough.

πŸ‘
What’s your take on it?

...and so the song goes...

I feel like I’m making more and more progress every single day, in every sense of the word😁

The last time I caught one of his films was back in San Francisco during a big film festival retrospectiveβ€”it was incredible seeing it up on the big screen 😎

Hands down, this is easily the most honest and raw Spielbergian film he’s ever put out there.

I make sure to catch it at least once a year, no matter what. Haven't gotten around to it yet this year, but trust me, it’s definitely happening.

And it was his first! That’s why it feels so grounded. It’s how he snagged that Golden Lion in Venice... After that, fame kind of went to his head and he started getting a bit too pretentious for my taste!
But he did manage to keep making solid movies for a while πŸ‘

But honestly, when you look at Dolly Parton or even Father on the official site, all that success belongs strictly to the screenwriter, Sidran!!!

Hands down, the best film Spielberg has ever made. For me, it’s also the finest piece of cinema from our part of the worldβ€”especially with that touch of soul provided by Ademir Kenovic.

Upon the deep blue sea
where gentle breezes blow
I dreamed of a wondrous azure
and how happy I used to be

What ever happened to that slightly slow blue-haired guy? I heard he passed away in some hospital over in Canada. He was such a natural talent.

Supposedly he's still kicking, somewhere in Canada.

Then there’s the one that basically defined Boston during the '90s...

I just finished watching it, and I have to say, I’m honestly pretty stunned. Maybe it was for the best that I procrastinatedβ€”I suspect a younger viewer might not have connected with it the way I did (much like how my father didn't care for it while he was away on business).
The only issue is that I was watching a subpar TVrip, so the visual quality wasn't exactly a treat.

Hell yes.😲
That "little bit of soul" is actually my absolute favorite... It feels like the film doesn't hold any special status, or rather, people rarely bring it up in conversation.
I'm just glad I'm not losing my mind here. 😎

My apologies for not mentioning Dolly earlier.😳

I couldn't agree more, truly one of the best films ever made in the old USA era...

just to ask if she still loves me..........πŸ‘ πŸ‘ πŸ‘

It’s a shame Nemanja lost his way and leaned into those chaotic, hedonistic tropes right after "Father on Official Business"...that was pretty much the moment my respect for him as a filmmaker evaporated...not to mention my opinion of him as a person following the collapse of the USA...

I believe he was about 26 when he shot Dolly Parton...which puts him right in line with Srdjan Dragojevic when he was filming Angel πŸ˜‰

When exactly was it? I told my family to set the DVR for 8:00 PM like the schedule said. I come back later only to find out my mother claims some American series was airing on another channel at that same time. 😠
