Throat discomfort :(

Ugh, I’ve got this weird discomfort on the right side just below my tonsils. There isn't any visible swelling, but my throat looks a bit red. It’s not even a typical sharp pain or burning sensation—it’s more like this constant pressure that hits me most often whenever I have acid reflux. 🙄 Honestly, it feels stupid to go see an ENT over this, especially since I’m already constantly at the doctor's office dealing with my chronic sinus issues. Why bother? Does anyone actually know what this could be??? What am I looking at here? Heeeeelp!!! This is starting to freak me out. 🙂 Thanks in advance!

How long does this thing last? Are you actually letting it happen? And how old are you, anyway?

It lasts a few days... basically just whenever I burp.

I have been plagued by a persistent, low-grade cough for an entire week now, occurring sporadically throughout the day, accompanied by a nagging discomfort in my throat that simply refuses to subside.

That’s exactly how it started for me, and it turned out to be a thyroid issue. I felt like there was this lump or a knot in there. My throat didn't really hurt when I swallowed, but it was slightly red. If I were you, I’d get my thyroid checked out. Especially if that pressure seems to ebb and flow throughout the day.

I’ve tried hitting up the doctor twice now, but I always miss the window😢 because I show up right as they're closing for the day. I have two nodules on my thyroid, but I doubt that's the culprit. It doesn't hurt when I swallow; it only stings when I burp, like air is scratching that spot just below my right tonsil... what a ridiculous sensation! I have no clue what's causing this. Usually, whenever I feel pain, it's nothing specific—it could be anything at this point. :/ This doesn't feel related to my throat, and I actually thought it wasn't my thyroid too. I'll head to the clinic tomorrow and see what the doctor says. Peace!

It isn't even about nodules or anything like that—it's just that the texture of my thyroid feels off. I can still feel this little lump, even though it's smaller than before. Honestly, I'm trying my hardest to play it totally cool and convince myself it has absolutely nothing to do with my thyroid.

Here I am 🙂) So, I finally went in for the checkup. Tonsils enlarged—standard for me—and a red throat... blah, blah, blah. Total nonsense. They handed me a prescription for $250 and called it a day! Not a single word about the thyroid or anything else. Nothing! ☕

Here comes the discomfort again. It’s been going on since yesterday. 😢 Whenever I yell or get worked up, it intensifies—this sharp, pinching sensation right by my Adam's apple on the right side. 🤷
Could this be my thyroid? I used to have a couple of nodules on it back in the day...

Go ahead and schedule an appointment with an endocrinologist. When the doctor performs the thyroid ultrasound, they’ll naturally scan your entire neck area anyway, which should clear up any uncertainty you're feeling.
That being said, if the physical tests come back completely clean, there is a chance this could be rooted in anxiety or stress... assuming you rule out the medical stuff first.

So, I saw my primary care doctor today. She looked at the redness near my throat on the right side and didn't even prescribe medication. All she said was to rinse with sage water whenever possible, and if it doesn't improve, I'll need to get swabs done.
She's certain it isn't thyroid-related...🤷
