Which love story is better: Titanic or Episode II?

Heads up, this is a bit of a trick question since we're talking about two movies that most people actually DON'T like...

But first, I want to look at the writing, okay?

So, which film has the better-written love story?

Titanic - "Oh, Jack, I'm flying..."

Or

Star Wars - Episode II: Attack of the Clones - "I die a little more each day since you came back into my life..."

I know both have massive main plots where the romance is just a subplot, but let's temporarily ignore the sinking ship and the creation of an Imperial army and just focus on the love...😉

Now, don't give me any of that "You can't compare them because one is a drama and the other is sci-fi" stuff. We aren't looking at genres here; we're strictly looking at which love scenes were better written, okay?

To me, both of them are basically the same thing—or if I’m being more precise, they leave me with the exact same feeling...

But fine, I guess I'll cast my vote for SW, though only because if that concept were used in a different movie, with a different cast and a better theme, it might actually be good...

These two are just hilarious—especially that one from Star Wars, when you compare it to a typical romance movie. But man, McGaw spends the whole damn film pining after Ryan O'Neil. Seriously, if you rename them both—say, while sitting next to some old aunt who can't stop crying over everything—then...

It’s honestly such a shame she didn't show some skin in Star Wars... it probably would've added a little extra spice to an already pretty intense romance story.🙄

I haven't seen SW, and I probably won't. But Titanic? Man, those love stories. The sinking part isn't even secondary—honestly, they could have cut the whole ship sinking out of the movie and it would still work. No joke. Okay, maybe a little joke. But seriously, I definitely teared up watching it. If you didn't like it, you just don't know how to watch movies.

Honestly, looking back, Titanic was such an absolute phenomenon.

Alright, maybe I came on a little too strong there, but you seriously need to know how to watch movies. Look, if you tried watching a Bergman film as a kid, you wouldn't understand a single thing. Now? Now we get it. Is that proof enough that you actually need knowledge to appreciate cinema? It’s the exact same deal as reading books, listening to music, or looking at art. Movies aren't just some bowl of chili where you just sit there and consume. There's a certain finesse to it that you have to learn.
