Oh, come on now, please! Suddenly everyone here has transformed into some kind of elite film critic! That snake looked absolutely, undeniably lifelike to me! 🙄 🤮 And then you compare him to Dobby? Give me a break! Honestly, you guys are acting like children. If you actually used your imagination and just let yourselves get swept up in the moment, you wouldn't be jumping out of your seats at every tiny little animation hiccup regarding Dobby, shouting, "Ugh, how tacky!" Please, spare me the elitism! 🙂

Now, I will admit,
Dobby’s animation isn't flawless—it feels a bit stylized to me as well—but if you engage your imagination even just a little bit, he’s perfectly fine!
And he feels real! 😁
Regardless, he’s adorable! 😁 He even has that moment where his strap slips off his shoulder and he pulls it back up! See? That’s exactly what makes it feel authentic! 😁

Oh, I totally forgot about the snake! You're right, even that one wasn't really all that great... 😁
But man, that phoenix was awesome. It actually felt like the real deal. 🙂

Uh, what critics? Do you honestly think any of them are objective? Every critic is just as subjective as I am, if not more biased since they're basically on someone's payroll.
Besides, movies aren't made for critics, they're made for the audience... I never understood why anyone thinks a critic's opinion should carry more weight than ours. Whatever. 😛

It's such a shame they have to recast Dumbledore... He was perfect. 😢

Finally caught the second installment yesterday. I’m totally with everyone saying the new guy—old Malfoy—was great. That actor really nailed it; honestly, it’s not his fault Harry has to win (😁 😉 ).
Snape comes off as some kind of saint next to him in this one. He felt way more convincing in the first movie, but now he feels like they're trying too hard to make him look "good," if you know what I mean. They just didn't let him shine as much.
I wouldn't even be surprised if he and Harry end up being best buds by the end of the book; people always mention how ride-or-die he is once he actually cares about someone. 😁
Maybe it's just because everything felt so fresh to me, since the first one hit way harder than this sequel. The special effects? Always top-tier.
The plot sticks pretty close to the book.
It was a little annoying hearing the main guys, Ron and Harry, going through that awkward voice change phase. Their voices are all over the place.
Malfoy has grown up so much, he's practically outshining the others. It’s a shame they didn't just knock out all four movies in a row while they were still kids, because they're growing up fast and won't fit the roles forever.
Personally, I can't stand it when they swap out a key character after just two or three movies.
Apparently, the kid playing Potter isn't even sure if he wants to do the third one.
Lame. To me, he looks exactly like Harry should; he’s not some method actor genius, but he fits the vibe perfectly.
The family he lives with? Everyone's a perfect fit, though I have to say, Ron's mom wasn't quite how I pictured her. And Dobby? Total dud. From the look to that grating voice (I kept thinking of that Jar-Jar from Star Wars who was just unbearable—they’re definitely in that same league), he's barely tolerable at times. I guess it was just cheaper to do a CGI job than to actually find a real person to play him. Despite all that, I'm stoked for the next BOOK, but as for the movies... who knows. It could only go downhill from here, especially since we already lost the actor who played Dumbledore...

Just another movie flaw: the lead is kind of underwhelming, but you still stick around just to see what the rest of the cast is doing. 😁

Keith Robinson2, I haven't actually read the book, but people tell me that Harry "grows up" in the novel too, so it makes sense that he looks older in the film.
But you're totally right, those kids have changed so much since that first movie...
As for whether Radcliffe is done playing Harry altogether, I haven't heard anything about that. 😕 Even if he's a bit awkward, it would be such a shame if it were true, because then it just wouldn't feel like the same world anymore.
They'll eventually have to recast Dumbledore, which is inevitable, but the others are still around... 😁

It honestly blew my mind when I read they offered him such a pathetic paycheck for the sequel.
It’s just plain stupid to me—if they're pulling in that kind of massive cash, how can they not just release everything properly? Like, just get all the footage from the first one out there and call it a day. The only way I can justify the delay is if they were slowing things down because of the late Richard Harris; the man was sick, so I get it...
But replacing him might be easy enough if they grab the guy who plays Gandalf or even that legendary Lee ( Dracula, though replacing Potter, Ron, and Hermione is going to be a much harder sell for me. Honestly, Ron gets on my nerves with those goofy faces he makes; he’s nothing special to me, yet people rave about him. As for Potter, he needs to look terrified and a bit dazed after spending years running from monsters, and I think that actor actually nails it. At least we had the same cast for the first three movies.
For anyone who wants to feel like a kid again, these movies are perfect. I'm already looking forward to seeing a hidden street, some wizard tournament, elves...

haha, I actually suggested Ian McKellen to a friend once during a deep dive conversation, and he totally tore me apart for it. It’s funny because he absolutely adores the man and thinks The Lord of the Rings is pure genius, but we ended up having this massive, ridiculous debate about it... 😁
Eventually, I just asked him if he’d prefer Sean Connery instead... 😁

I don't think Bram Stoker would work, though. He just doesn't have that "good guy" look you need for a role like that. He's got that natural villain vibe, and Dumbledore is basically the total opposite of that...

I think Harry Potter 2 is absolutely phenomenal. That said, it definitely drags on a bit too long. I’ve read through the entire series and they’re all great, but if I had to compare them to The Lord of the Rings, I’d say Harry Potter is much better. To me, The Lord of the Rings feels way too dark.

I honestly feel like both the book and the movie were always meant to be for kids first and foremost... I just couldn't get into the second part because it drags on forever, and besides, those spiders and especially that snake scene? That’s definitely not kid-friendly material in the way it was presented. I've got my own little ones at home—a six-year-old and a ten-year-old—and they were absolutely terrified by it. Honestly, damn it... It should have been a movie for children, not something designed to stress out the parents, and I think that’s why it feels like such a total flop, regardless of how much they tried to stick to the original book. If this had been aimed at adults, then all the complaints I mentioned earlier wouldn't even matter, but if it's meant for kids, you can't have these horrific scenes that leave them unable to sleep... and it wasn't just my kids, either, I know other families dealing with the same thing. The whole movie is just this weird bastard child caught between a kids' flick and an adult thriller, and that's exactly why I think it fails...

Oh, and one more thing... I went to the theater and there were kids everywhere, half of them hiding their faces under their hoodies or just refusing to even look at the screen. Seriously, why would you market a movie like this to children? It’s a total scam...

haha I am seriously counting down the days until part three! Honestly, I’m skipping the book because if I know the story already, the movie won't hit the same. That was one of those rare films that actually kept me wide awake the whole time!!!!!!!!!!!!😎 👍

The only thing I can't wrap my head around is the target audience. On one hand, the plot is incredibly basic and "straightforward"—everything is laid out clearly so no kid gets confused, you know? The story itself feels very "childlike," but those spider scenes aren't exactly meant for little kids—😲not for me either, honestly; if I'm jumping at tiny spiders on my own ceiling, I'm definitely not ready for these massive monsters.😁
But hey, the story is what it is, and they adapted it quite literally, so there's that.
The special effects (at least from my amateur perspective😉) are great, and I think most of the casting was spot on. I don't really get why everyone is complaining about Harry; he's just this selfless little guy trying to save everyone around him. What exactly were people expecting?😕 Some edgy little rebel for no reason?😁😉
Looking forward to the next installment.🙂
