I haven't really followed any of the drama outside of the movie itself, mostly because the film was just okay, so I didn't feel much of a need to dig deeper...
So, basically, she just took the money, hit those three destinations like they agreed, and then turned around and wrote a book?

And one more thing: what did the husband actually do wrong? I can't really buy into that whole "personality clash" excuse.

Julia Roberts hasn't really done much since her Erin Brockovich days, if you ask me.

If you ask me, the guy isn't even at fault here. She just realized she didn't want to be married anymore—period. She wanted out, so she walked, but he didn't necessarily do anything to cause it.
I don't know if the book handles it differently since I haven't actually read it 🤷
The movie wasn't really my thing, honestly. It felt way too long. The only part I actually liked was that scene in Italy where they get into that fight 🙂 🤣

The guy isn't actually at fault; she was just bored out of her mind and couldn't be bothered to put any work into the marriage anymore, so she bailed to go "find herself."

The movie has killer marketing, which is how they totally hooked me, but by the end 👎

Don't let her watch that. Unless, of course, you're looking to get chopped up and put to sleep immediately. Poor lady. I took my own mom to see this garbage at the theater once, and she spent the next two days cursing my name.😢

Honestly, she looked a little unhinged to me, sobbing away in the middle of the night.😁 Fine, fine, maybe she’s dissatisfied with life, but she’s so incredibly grating that you almost wish a Vespa would run her over in Italy. She’s always been airheaded, whether she was in Italy or India...
It probably would have been cheaper if she'd just stayed home and found a psychiatrist like most other Americans.

Total waste of time. The whole thing feels incredibly hollow and shallow...
Between that ridiculous Italian accent of hers and how she totally twists the idea of meditation while searching for "inner peace"... 😱

What a waste of a good concept. I think the movie had potential, though I haven't actually picked up the book yet. Everything felt a bit too on the nose—the plot was pretty thin, the characters lacked any real depth, and honestly, it just dragged on way too long. There was one brief moment where it actually grabbed my attention, but that was about it. Regardless, I think I’ll give the book a shot; from what I hear, the writing is actually solid enough to make it worth it.

Just a tedious slog... This is actually my third attempt at finishing this movie, and I can't even make it past the hour mark before the boredom kicks in. I'm calling it quits. It felt like a total waste of time, especially since I used to be such a fan of Julia Roberts, though I have to admit her acting style has started to grate on my nerves lately. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

I saw this movie in theaters a few months back and honestly, I’m still trying to recover from the trauma.
I stuck it out until near the end just because I wanted to see Javier at least, since I already paid for the ticket, but once he started whining, I just hit my limit and walked out.

I can't even decide what was worse—Julia Roberts being so incredibly dramatic, the total lack of actual plot, that whole Italian thing (which felt super forced?), or just how pathetic Javier's role was. Like, seriously, he made me lose all respect for him, and he didn't even do anything wrong, he was just so tense.

I have no clue if the book is any good, but after this total disaster of a movie, I definitely don't have any intention of reading it...

It's crazy that I'm still so worked up about it after all this time, but man, what a mindless, insulting attack on anyone's intelligence.

I haven't even finished watching it yet—and honestly, I probably won't.

I've tried sitting through it three or four times now, but I can't even make it halfway. 🙂

I have to say, this movie was a total letdown—I definitely expected more. It felt like there was far too much forced drama centered entirely on her being miserable, almost as if the entire universe revolves around her personal happiness. Honestly... she seemed completely indecisive about what she actually wanted, and now I’m just sitting here feeling a bit sorry for myself for having wasted my time on it.

Way too predictable

I’m currently deep into this book—almost at the finish line—and honestly, I think it’s fantastic 🙂 but again, I’ve always felt like you just can't compare a movie to the actual book.
