So, just to keep everyone in the loop—I’ve already sent a DM to the admins, but I’ve officially lost access to my account. I can't tell if this is just some weird glitch on the site or if someone actually hijacked it! It isn't just limited to this Reddit thread, either—I'm locked out of my primary email and my old MSN account as well... I'd really appreciate it if the supermoderators and admins could look into this and help me get everything back under control. 👍

Let’s clear something up: nobody is "hacking" you in the way most people imagine from movies. In reality, your password isn't just sitting there waiting to be plucked from a forum or a database because it's hashed—it's encrypted in one direction. The only actual way someone gets in is if they've already compromised your machine with a Trojan, a >, or some other nasty password stealer that pipes your credentials straight to their inbox. There is also the theoretical possibility of packet sniffing on the network to grab passwords in plaintext—especially since this forum doesn't utilize SSL—but honestly, that's a negligible risk for the average user. So, we're left with one main culprit: your computer getting infected by malware. The only real defense here is staying sharp and running decent antivirus software.

What kind of antivirus are you running? And more importantly, does it actually handle its own updates automatically? I realized I didn't mention this earlier, but it's a massive oversight: have you ever logged into your accounts from someone else's computer? It happens more often than you'd think. People end up installing a Keylogger on their own machines without even realizing it, and before they know it, their passwords are gone.

I'm currently running a Norton trial along with Malwarebytes... And yeah, truth be told, I did log in at a buddy's place a few days back—but if I recall correctly, the browser didn't save my password... 😢
Honestly, this whole situation is driving me a bit crazy...

It doesn't matter if the browser didn't save anything. A Keylogger runs in the background—it's completely invisible—and it captures every single keystroke sent through the physical keyboard.

Exactly. If you type in your password while a friend has a Keylogger installed, they’re sitting on it, making them the prime suspect. 😉

I’m talking about the actual email you used to register for this Reddit thread.

But from what I can gather—and I think you hit the nail on the head here—there really isn't a workaround for this. A password isn't something someone can just snatch out of thin air without some serious effort... unless, of course, you just wipe the slate clean by deleting the account entirely and starting over from scratch. 😕

Unfortunately, there's no other way around it. The Admins are going to have to scrub Raymond Brooks8's account and delete every single one of his posts—even the nonsense ones.
