About the mods

Do you guys think the mods are power tripping? Like, are they being arrogant or unfair? Feel free to vent or drop your thoughts here...

Do you have a specific complaint? It’s easy to just drag moderators through the mud without actually saying anything useful. This sub is mostly for addressing real issues. So, if there's something specific bothering you, please just lay it out.

No, I don't believe so. In my view, most of the moderators are doing a perfectly respectable job. If someone happens to make a mistake, I would argue those instances are simply exceptions to the rule. After all, what else could one expect? Perfect moderators overseeing an imperfect community of users? I suspect that neither I, nor anyone else in this world, would be any better.

Yeah, I guess most of them probably do okay... what did I expect?.. I guess I just expected they wouldn't be able to help being unfair... I mean, what do you really expect from a regular guy once you hand him a little bit of "power"? Fairness? Or for them to stay humble? Nah... that'd be the exception to the rule...

Look, folks, are doing this all for free—they didn't spend years grinding through a PhD just to become moderators—so I guess we shouldn't really be expecting perfection. 😁

The reality of the situation is that they actually hold some level of authority, and with that comes the obligation to exercise it. It’s perfectly reasonable to expect that those subject to that power won't exactly be thrilled about it. Nobody enjoys being reprimanded or getting caught on the wrong side of the rules. As my grandmother used to say back in the day: "Other people's messes always seem to smell a whole lot worse."👍

If we define arrogance as simply exercising the authority one has been granted, then yes, they are being arrogant. But that’s exactly what they’re tasked to do—to swoop in right when you least expect it. It's reminiscent of the Spanish Inquisition.😉

From what I can tell, even the mods have been playing it a bit too safe on this thread
but if the topic had just been nuked and you’d been slapped with a warning, you’d probably be sitting here claiming they won't tolerate any criticism, and you wouldn't dare mention the actual way you went about starting the whole thing in the first place
you see, it's usually that total lack of self-awareness that makes people convinced the moderators are out to get them or making excuses for their own behavior
the truth is, the mods are elected by the community, and honestly, most of them would probably rather spend their time actually debating everyone else instead of dealing with the headache of managing the board

I suppose my grievance lies in the fact that they actually hold power.😁 All jokes aside, let's get down to business.

My primary grievance is that the moderators simply cannot shake their own ideological biases—or the forum's overarching dogma—when making judgments. It’s incredibly frustrating to watch them intentionally steer discussions toward a specific agenda. When they do that, this platform stops being a space where people can freely exchange a diverse range of ideas; instead, it turns into a room filled with totalitarian ambient music, where we users are just forced to play the exact notes they want us to hit in unison.

Austin Parker8, why wouldn't I? This is exactly what this place is for, isn't it? A spot where people can actually speak their minds and leave a comment if they feel like it.

Is this being arrogant? After 20 posts about organ donation, Katherine (the mod) hasn't even read them and just goes, "Does anyone actually know a specific case like this personally, or have you seen it reported somewhere, or are you all just talking nonsense?"
I don't get it... the guy's a moderator... if I give him a taste of his own medicine, I'll probably get hit with a 3-day ban.
