I could really use some advice here. I took a pretty hard hit to my shin and ankle, and now the ankle is swollen on both sides. It actually started bruising up a bit today—probably because I was wearing tight shoes, which sounds silly, but maybe that’s what did it. My shin is bruised too; I’ve been icing it, but I’m really hoping I don't end up with any permanent lumps. Does anyone know how to get those bumps to go away?
Also, how can I tell if I actually broke something? I can stand up, and honestly, I’m walking a little better today, even though the injury happened two days ago. If I can walk "normally" but the swelling is still there and it hurts a little when I touch it, do I still need to go get an X-ray or something? I’m a total amateur when it comes to injuries, but my right ankle definitely swelled up quite a bit after that impact!

It might be worth getting that wrist X-rayed just to be safe.
I’ve certainly seen my fair share of similar situations myself 🙄—so please don't worry too much. In my experience, things usually turn out fine; it’ll likely take a week or two for the swelling to subside and another week for the pain to fade, but an X-ray is a good precaution. Good luck! 😁

So, I’m finally heading back to training next week! Honestly, it's been a wild ride—one minute I was dealing with this absolutely nasty pain, and then, out of nowhere, my ankle mobility felt totally fine again within just two days. It’s so weird. Part of me is convinced there’s some tiny hairline fracture in there causing all that sudden agony, because it felt intense. I'm not sure how everyone else is feeling about their own recoveries, but for me, I've made a decision: moving forward, I'm definitely going to wrap my ankle whenever I know I'm in for a heavy session. At the very least, I need to grab some elastic compression bandages to keep in my gym bag just in case.🙂

You can actually pick up these specialized wraps at any CVS to help stabilize a joint... just for future reference—God forbid you ever actually need them, but it's good to know: if you sprain something, soaking a cloth in egg whites before wrapping it works wonders. It really helps! 😬

Wait, how am I even supposed to tell if I’ve actually broken my shin?! It’s turning blue and purple... there are some weird bumps appearing, and honestly, I can still stand up and walk, but man, it hurts like crazy whenever I touch it! I'm seriously stuck—how do you actually distinguish a full break from just a bad crack or fracture?

Look, if you’d actually broken your leg, you wouldn't be sitting here on this forum—you’d be stuck in an ER waiting room somewhere. Don't worry, it'll pass.😉
