I concur that the remake was an entirely unnecessary move.
That said, I find Alien to be far superior. (The first and second installments, obviously.) It remains the finest horror film in my eyes, regardless of its age. (Though some argue it belongs in the sci-fi genre rather than horror, I believe it contains significant horror elements, particularly the original.)
Who? 😁 Oh, you mean most people consider it horror first? Same goes for The Thing. They’re horror films that happen to be sci-fi. That’s why they always get categorized that way. 👍
It’s not just "elements"—almost everything about it is pure horror. From the atmosphere down to the chestburster scene. 😲
And you're right, the Alien series isn't even on the poll. 🤦
The first two are absolute masterpieces. Looking at this list, besides maybe Halloween, there aren't any actual masterpieces here. Most of these are good, really solid horror flicks, but those first two Alien movies are legendary. Part 3 is decent, and Part 4 could have been great too.
