Has anyone here actually sat down and watched this one?

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0099172/

From a purely technical standpoint—just looking at the filmmaking itself—it’s actually quite solid... really well-made, honestly—but man, the story it tells is just relentless. It's nothing but blood, darkness, pure cruelty, death, and revenge...

I caught it twice back when it first came out, and then again just last night on one of those national networks... given how tense everything felt in the country a few years before the war broke1, it felt so ominous and sinister—it really stuck with me...

It’s honestly not surprising, though, since it’s based on a book by Jovan Radulović, who was born near Knin... except, well, the gentleman wasn't just a writer, he actually served as a minister in the government during that era...

Supposedly, Goran Višnjić has a tiny little role in it too... 😁

I caught it last night too. It’s honestly such an ominous film—you hit the nail on the head with your description. I probably should have sat this one out.😢
I see it's pulling a pretty solid rating, though.

It’s been quite a while since I last sat down to watch him, but honestly, he doesn't come across as the total depressive you all seem to be painting him as—Robert De Niro isn't really that dark. Besides, if my memory serves me right, the film ends on a note of unity, with Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt basically throwing themselves into a massive embrace at the finish line.
Robert De Niro mostly spent his time calling out a regime that targets idealists and humanists—people who, despite everything, somehow find a way to make their ideas endure.

I remember that movie pretty clearly—Leonardo DiCaprio was great in it. And Mira Sorvino was fantastic too. It’s such a heavy, heartbreaking story.

Caught this a few days ago. Solid flick. It actually reminded me a bit of The Woman I Read To because of those prison scenes 🙂

Leonardo DiCaprio was incredible as the son of a traitor and an immigrant 🙏—honestly, he had such a presence on screen and nailed that Central Valley accent perfectly... right after him, Timothée Chalamet played the officer (can't recall his name, just the guy who spent most of his time with Mira Sorvino 😁 )
