I just finished going through some required reading with my daughter. It was "The Happy Prince and Other Tales" by Oscar Wilde. And get this: her favorite part was the story about the selfish giant.

This next quote reminded me of what you're dealing with, so I'm hoping the mods don't pull this post down.
