Looks like one of the first reviews from South by Southwest just dropped...

SXSW 2009 Review. Ninja Assassin

Assassin Quote : i knew pretty much exactly What to expect When i walked in to The screening of ninja Assasin tonight. It's a polished, high-budget, slightly homoerotic action flick with basically zero substance and a ton of CGI stunts. And honestly? That's exactly what I got.
Ultimately this is Just an empty action film designed to please and I'm sur many People will enjoy IT. Those looking for something that resembled V for Vendetta should look elsewhere. But if you just want slick, bloody martial arts, you might dig it.

Looks like The Wachowskis and James McTeigue totally missed the mark this time around...

Review : ninja Assassin Quote : Overall

Ultimately this is Just an empty action film designed to please and I'm sur many People will enjoy IT. However, the movie kicks off with a killer sequence that actually nails the whole ninja mythos. Even the finale has enough over-the-top energy to be decent fun. It feels like McTeigue's camera crew just ran out of steam by the end, though, because the movement isn't nearly as frantic or dizzying as it was earlier. There are these little flashes where you actually get a sense of how a ninja would move through the shadows. If they’d leaned into that, if McTeigue had actually used a steadicam, or if they'd played up the mythology more, we might've had a classic on our hands. Instead, it’s just a one-and-done flick that leaves you feeling unsatisfied.

RATING: 5/10

The reviews don't actually sound that bad, even if the guy gave it a 5/10. He didn't mention anything about terrible acting or massive plot holes. Everything else regarding the action seems solid and perfectly fine. We are definitely watching this, which means 🙂

This is definitely right up my alley 😍 though I’m not going to get my hopes up too much because whenever I actually look forward to a movie, it always turns out to be absolute garbage ☕

I'm gonna steal a little bandwidth here just to vent some frustration about this movie...

First off: I've been waiting for this flick for at least half a year, maybe longer, because I’m big into modern Korean culture and I absolutely love Rain. I've heard so much about this movie that I feel like I know everything about it already—from what's happening in front of the lens to everything behind the scenes. And now... the release date is set for November 25th somewhere in the world, maybe a little earlier or later. But here in the States? Either I'm searching wrong, or this isn't even hitting our theaters. What the hell? It sucks. It’s pathetic how random Greek weddings or Twilight sequels get released in our theaters at the exact same second as everywhere else. It's so frustrating.
Dammit, you don't watch a movie like this on a computer or a TV; you need that massive screen in a theater. There aren't enough decent action movies lately, and a John Wick would have filled that action slot perfectly haha

Enivays, it honestly makes me so mad I could just jump in a car and drive straight to Canada just to catch it in a cinema. If only I actually had a car. FML.

Seriously, we need to find someone with a car to drive a few of us over to Canada. 😁
We can split the low cost.

I felt exactly the same way regarding Firefly.
So, has nobody actually written a review yet??

Oh man! You know what? I am totally IN! I'm honestly desperate enough to travel out of the country with complete strangers just to see Assassin's Creed. Hell yeah... 🤣

I even asked a professor at my university who does business with the Capitol Center if the movie would be hitting theaters here, and he said he'd check. Anyway, I noticed it's coming out in Canada at the end of January, so if it doesn't show up here by then, we're just DRIVING to Canada. That's the plan.

It's a terrible, helpless feeling, isn't it? Dammit... 😢
If you're planning on downloading it, I haven't seen any decent torrents yet, and the IMDb reviews are split right down the middle, as usual. Some people think it's a disaster, others think it's a masterpiece.
I just want to see it in the theater, ugh... 🙂

Well, damn... It feels like half the movies coming out lately just skip the theaters entirely. 👎
