Hi there!
I'm not sure if a thread like this already exists; my searches haven't turned up anything particularly useful.
If I've missed something, please excuse me.
My wife and I are flying to Tunis this summer, and I have a few questions regarding motion sickness medication, as well as how to handle any digestive issues caused by the local food or water.
I know Dramamine is a standard option for nausea during travel, but I've also seen Aviomarin mentioned—I'm wondering which one might be less likely to leave someone feeling completely out of it.
Also, besides activated charcoal, what would you suggest for managing stomach upsets (nausea, vomiting, or most commonly, diarrhea) triggered by food? I'd rather not find ourselves racing for a restroom in the middle of a trip because our stomachs decided to turn on us.
Thanks!

I usually stick to Dramamine for motion sickness, so I haven't tried this new one yet. If the ingredients are the same, you probably won't notice much difference in how drowsy they make you feel.
As for activated charcoal, my doctor mentioned that’s mostly for chemical poisoning or toxins. It won't hurt if you have food poisoning, but it's not really going to help.
For diarrhea, Linex capsules work great, but if things get really bad, you might want to look into Seldiar.
Going back to the nausea issue—I just remembered there are also those wristbands, gums, or Ginger capsules. Personally, nothing else works for me besides Dramamine.
I’d also pack some basic stuff for pain or fever, like Tylenol, and obviously any regular meds you take for chronic issues (hopefully you don't have any, but you know the drill).
It might be worth asking a pharmacist for their professional opinion too.
Safe travels and have a blast!

The dizziness is what worries me most—not so much for myself, but for my wife. We arrive early in the morning, and I’d hate to see our entire first day wasted. Then again, maybe she'll be less groggy from the medication than she would be from the vomiting... so I suppose it's a bit of a toss-up.

It might not even be food poisoning, but perhaps something in the water instead. That’s why I was asking about activated charcoal; I'll have to look into those tablets a bit more as well.

Knowing how she operates, I highly doubt any alternatives will do the trick. She probably needs something much stronger.

I was thinking about taking some Voltaren and Lupocet, along with the usual dose of Bayer, I suppose.
Fortunately, we don't have any chronic illnesses to deal with. 👍
Thanks for the response. 👍👍
