I’m assuming everyone knows what a muscle twitch is—that sensation where something feels like it's jumping or pulsing under your skin. Some people say it's just nerves, and it usually happens around the eye or eyelid...
For me, it happens all over my body. It isn't constant in one spot, but it pops up here and there—my arm, my leg, even my glutes, back, stomach, neck, or lips. Sometimes my eyelid will twitch non-stop for a full week...
Does anyone know what this actually means? Is it just nerves, and should I be worried?

I didn't know the name for it before, but now I do... basically, the same thing happens to me. Most of the time it's my eyelid (happens to my friend even more often lol), but my leg or arm will twitch too—especially if I've been doing something heavy, like carrying a 30lb toddler around :P...
I figure it's totally normal and nothing to worry about... at least I hope so, because if this is something I should actually be stressed about, then we're all screwed. 😢

I'm guessing you're a heavy coffee drinker? Or maybe you're hitting the caffeine pretty hard? Do you smoke at all? 🙂
Look, my sister went through this exact same thing. Her ophthalmologist told her she needed to cut back on the coffee intake. So, she did... ☕ Now she sticks to maybe 2 or 3 cups a day, tops.. 👍

I used to smoke, but I quit recently.👍
And I don't even drink that much coffee, just the occasional cup when I'm out...
It honestly drives me crazy sometimes. I've had this pain in my side for a few days now... I heard magnesium helps with that, along with Vitamin B. Thinking about heading to CVS to grab some magnesium...

It isn't dangerous, but it's still annoying, especially when it sticks around for a few days, usually right in the eye...

You're on the right track with the magnesium. Honestly, keeping up with vitamins and minerals is pretty essential. While you're at it, you should probably check your blood pressure at least once a day. At the end of the day, this sounds more like a nerve issue rather than anything strictly neurological. Stress, frustration, work, college, family drama... it's all part of it.

There’s always some kind of stress or anxiety hanging around... I'll head to the drugstore and grab those pills. Is the magnesium in tablet form, or are those the ones that make you dizzy?

Honestly, you're better off spending a little extra on higher-quality vitamins. Those fizzy ones? They're pretty much useless if you ask me.👍

I just saw my neuropsychiatrist, and he put me on some supplements—Vitamin C and a B-complex. He also suggested I get moving with some exercise, which is hilarious because we all know how lazy I am...
exercise is definitely key to a healthy lifestyle...

Muscle tremors... could be because you're low on magnesium. I guess.
As for that eyelid twitching, it might just be from overworking your eyes too much.

stormytiger13, I’ve been dealing with this exact same issue for about a year now.🙂
my conclusion - it's all psychological. Based on your posts, you tend to worry about health issues quite a bit, which is something we both share. It actually drove me to the point of having panic attacks because the twitching was so frustrating.
The worst part started when I searched Google for things like "muscle twitching" or "muscle fasciculations." You immediately get hit with a ton of articles about terrifying diseases like ALS. DO NOT READ THEM!
Instead, look into "BFS," or Benign Fasciculation Syndrome. Check out a site like www.aboutbfs.com. It is a much more common condition than ALS or anything else scary. I couldn't find an American resource with this level of detail or a decent community discussion about it.
Even after a full year, I still get twitches and spasms in small muscles all over—mostly my eyelids, thighs, and calves, but also my stomach, lips, and lower back. It's everywhere. However, I’ve learned to ignore them. When I stop focusing on it, the twitching can disappear for days or even weeks. But if I get stressed or start thinking about the "problem" again, it shows up in no time.
