Are we talking about a "neutral impression" regarding the movie itself, or specifically about Milka's character?

It feels more like a tribute to the man himself than anything else 😉

Both, honestly. But mostly the movie.

That’s actually true regarding the movie, and now that I've had some time to sit with it, I'm convinced the screenwriter is the one who really dropped the ball here.

Personally, I always found Mountain to be the more impulsive one 🙂)) Besides, Jack and Heath really had to break the ice... it certainly wasn't easy for those two... 🙂))

So, the screenwriter picks up an Oscar for the script and goes on about how this guy was his absolute hero because he fought for their rights and all that. Honestly, the whole movie feels like straight-up propaganda, which I’m not a fan of. It’s too targeted—you don't really get the freedom to look at the situation objectively as a viewer since they just serve you their specific take on the issue. And honestly, leaning that hard into the liberal angle shouldn't be used to steer the audience like that... it's just not right.

Isn't that just classic Hollywood?

So I'm just not allowed to give an actual critique and say the movie doesn't deserve all the hype it "gets"? 🙂

I was simply pointing out that it’s nothing more than pure propaganda. Given the typical Hollywood mindset and worldview, this kind of thing is hardly surprising during an election cycle...

Personally, I think most of the Best Picture nominees are totally overrated, with the exception of Frost / Nixon, which might actually be underrated.

The movie is definitely overrated... it seems like they just crank out those queer themes year after year because they know they sell...
people are clearly exhausted by those predictable romantic comedies starring Jennifer Aniston 🙂
Still, there are a few standout moments, like that scene with Sean and James in the subway, or the one where Sean discovers the dead guy...
The costume design is actually quite solid, though; it pulls you right back into the 70s... almost feels like watching Dirty Harry...

It’s a solid movie—actually pretty interesting because it gives you such a unique perspective from the other side of the fence... Penn did an incredible job portraying that sensitive, effeminate gay character, though it makes me wonder if the real Harvey Milk was actually anything like that... and honestly, as for that specific role he had to play in this one, I wouldn't touch it even for a million bucks...

I just finished watching it, and honestly, it’s such a fantastic film. It really gives you a deep look at how Harvey Milk turned San Francisco into the world's capital for the LGBTQ+ community... plus, there are a few lovely romantic moments between him and his partner. Truly excellent.👍

The movie is alright 🤷
The ending felt a bit off to me—and honestly, the guy who killed Sean wasn't particularly well-developed. I was looking for more of a psychological profile, but they missed the mark there.

I honestly think it’d be a great idea to check out "And the Band Played On" once you're done with this movie http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0106273/ — just to get a better sense of how everything actually unfolded chronologically within the San Francisco gay community... 🙂

I guess this might be the absolute worst movie I have ever laid eyes on.
