Greetings, everyone. For about three days now, I've been dealing with this intense pain in my right glute area—I suspect it might be bone-related, though I’m certainly no medical expert. I'm 18 years old and haven't had any falls or accidents; it just seemingly came out of nowhere. It was actually so debilitating today that I couldn't even make it down to my apartment downstairs to see the doctor. I can't lift my right leg at all, and putting any weight on it is incredibly difficult. The pain is truly awful, so I am asking for any advice you might have. And by the way—I promise I'm not exaggerating here.😕

It’s probably your hip, assuming it’s actually a bone issue or maybe something got pinched somewhere.
Honestly, just head to the ER so they can get an X-ray or something right away and figure it out.

I’m heading to the doctor shortly—if I take some pain medication now, will it actually help manage the discomfort? I really need to be able to get up just to run to the local CVS for some cigarettes, but right now, getting out of bed feels physically impossible.

Honestly, I have no clue if that'll even touch it.🤷

Good grief, if this doesn't let up by Monday, I’m heading straight to the doctor—it’s driving me absolutely insane. It feels like someone is literally stabbing me with something quite intense 😢
Thanks for the info, everyone. I'm logging off now because I can't even sit down comfortably without pain

Most likely just a muscle strain—even simple, gentle movements can trigger one. I remember once when I stretched too far and it just tore...

I know a few things that really help me—though officially they’re considered alternative treatments and you won't find them at a local pharmacy... even if things like Bioptron are covered by Medicare, so you can always plead your case to your doctor...

Perhaps this could serve as a gentle nudge to finally quit smoking? 😬

No way. Smoking is basically my way of life, but I just picked up a whole carton so I don't have to run out to the corner store every single day. 😁
Now I'm just chilling at home, lounging on my left side. xD

Could it be that you’ve indulged in one too many cocktails and let your emotions get the better of you? Perhaps a bit of liquid courage has clouded your judgment. Regardless, I would suggest you simply steel yourself and move forward with purpose.

Hello,

I just spent about 5 or 6 days dealing with a pretty nasty virus. Between the high fever and the total exhaustion, I was basically stuck in bed for the entire five days. Now I'm facing a new issue: after being horizontal for three days, I started feeling intense pain in my tailbone area along the cleft. When I check it, there's a slight swelling—almost like the bone itself has puffed up. It hurts whenever I try to sit or lie down, especially when I put pressure on that specific spot. Could this be something serious, and is there any way to treat it?

I’ve got this weird, burning sensation on the left side of my buttock, right near the anus.

It hit me yesterday after sitting for way too long, and honestly, it just won't let up—it’s not excruciatingly painful, but it’s definitely bothersome during bowel movements. And yeah, it really hurts when I have to strain a bit.

I can feel the ache while I’m lying down or sitting, too, though it’s least noticeable when I’m walking around. If I shift my position, the pain vanishes for maybe ten seconds, and then... boom, it’s right back again.

I should probably mention that I actually have a pilonidal cyst, though it hasn't caused me any real trouble lately (if that's even relevant here)—the opening isn't large, and I’m scheduled for surgery in about two months, which I've been putting off for way too long already. But this specific pain doesn't seem to be right next to that spot. (The cyst opening is much higher up at the very top of the cleft.)

When I check myself, there aren't any visible skin changes or anything I can feel on the surface (I could snap a photo with my phone if needed), and strangely enough, if I press on the spot, the pain disappears—but the second I let go, it comes right back.

Over the last three days, I’ve been pushing myself physically a little more than usual, but nothing extreme or anything...

Does anyone have an idea what might be going on, or could this actually be linked to the pilonidal cyst?

Thanks!

Since you’re dealing with pain in your glute—specifically in one spot—it might be piriformis syndrome. It’s a common nuisance for anyone stuck behind a desk all day staring at a computer screen. Of course, it could just as easily be sciatica, lumbar issues, or something else entirely. You really ought to get checked out by a doctor to be sure. In the meantime, I’d suggest some light walking in the fresh air and some gentle stretching. Applying a medicated ointment can help too—stuff like Acuraflex or even those old-school muscle rubs. Some people swear by therapeutic mud baths, like the ones you find near Waikiki Beach. As for those other symptoms you mentioned, I can't really weigh in since I don't have the full picture.

P.S. About that post Jessica Ross2 put up... I was moving too fast and completely missed the timestamp, so my reply ended up being way late to the party. My bad to everyone here. Still, I’m hoping someone out there dealing with the same headache stumbles upon this delayed response. Maybe it’ll actually be useful to them.

As for that user Jessica Ross2, I really hope they’ve pulled through and are back to 100% by now. Dealing with health stuff is a grind. It would be interesting to know what actually triggered it all, though.
