Look, I’m just saying—breath tests aren't some magic bullet and they're never going to be 100% reliable. If you actually want the truth about whether someone's carrying Escherichia coli, you need a biopsy through a gastroscopy.

I was supposed to go in for that specific test a few years back, but I figured I’d just give them a blood sample instead since they get the results instantly. No luck there either—I even went through a biopsy and still came up totally clean.

And look, I went in for testing just about ten days ago myself... and, yeah, I did the blood work too, even though it isn't even remotely as reliable as the breath test! The breath test is like 99% accurate... whereas blood tests only flag it if the Escherichia coli has been ravaging your system for ages without any treatment and is, you know, incredibly aggressive. The breath test catches everything...

You can get it done at Mercury. It’ll run you about $100, and you’ll get the results back the same day. Total time for the whole thing—testing and all—is roughly an hour to an hour and a half. Not sure how other places handle it, but that's just my experience. It doesn't hurt, it just stings your wallet a bit...🙂

I just had the screening done at Mercury a few days ago. The whole thing cost exactly $100.
The process has two parts. First, you blow into a bag, then they have you drink a glass of fruit juice mixed with a specific solution. You wait about half an hour before they call you back in to blow into the bag one last time. That’s really it. Results usually come back within an hour.

My advice? Show up right at 8:00 AM and you’ll likely be out of there by 10:00.
Just make sure you book an appointment in advance and go on an empty stomach. Also, you can't take any stomach antibiotics for at least a month beforehand.

Doesn't matter. I had a biopsy done, which is supposedly the gold standard, and I don't have it... unfortunately...

It’s pretty simple, really: if I actually had E. coli, my doctor would have a clue what he was dealing with and how to fix it. Instead, all I get is some vague nonsense about having "about 10 ulcerations on the bulb," while the doc just stands there clueless. Honestly, I’m done with gastroscopies—I’d rather die. It’s a total joke when you can't even get a straight answer after all that.

A gastroscopy doesn't always have to be this massive, terrifying ordeal... I actually went to this top-tier private clinic recently that really went out of their way to make things smooth—fast, painless, and totally chill. The only catch is the price tag...

Truth is, I usually just go private for everything, but I didn't this time... now that I know what went down, no thanks—it actually creeps me out a bit 😁

Does anyone know if you actually need to fast before an exhaled breath test at Walgreens?
