Has anyone else here dealt with heart issues that show up as constant, heavy heart palpitations? I've been dealing with this for ten days straight now.
About ten days ago, out of nowhere, I started feeling these intense skips—like massive thuds in my chest—which I assume are extrasystoles. Sometimes they hit three times in a row, and the longest gap I’ve had between them was about 40 minutes, which was just enough time for me to finally drift off to sleep. I can manage to sleep through the night, though I honestly have no idea if the skipping continues while I'm unconscious.
To be perfectly honest, the last two years of my life have been incredibly draining and stressful due to some ongoing family issues, and I also carry a bit of a genetic predisposition; my grandmother suffered from angina pectoris, my mother has been on beta-blockers for about thirty years, and my sister deals with occasional palpitations too...🙄so there you have it.
I'm 28 years old, and by nature, I've always been a pretty high-strung, anxious person. Because of these occasional bouts of tachycardia, my therapist actually prescribed Normabel and Fever. At first, I assumed these skipped beats were just side effects from the Fever, but that doesn't seem to be the case since the sensations persisted even after I stopped taking it. After seeing a cardiologist, he put me on Nebilet, but despite being on it for seven days now, the symptoms haven't budged one bit!
My thyroid levels and EKG came back fine (though they did note some tachycardia), and I'm currently waiting on my Holter monitor results tomorrow, but the whole situation is driving me absolutely insane. You can probably imagine how 🤷

The only other thing I can think of, assuming you've already had routine labs done, is an electrophysiology study. That might reveal an ectopic focus or pinpoint the actual mechanism behind those tachycardia episodes. However, if the Holter monitor only caught one episode and showed nothing but sinus tachycardia, then an EP study might not be particularly useful right now. You really ought to have more clarity once the Holter results are in...

I’ve been completely unable to get anything meaningful done since last Monday because of these constant palpitations; they’re so intense that my entire body goes into a state of stress, leaving my family absolutely terrified—not to mention myself. And on top of all that, I’m still stuck fighting against the sheer indifference of my doctors. You probably assume they sent me off for some routine blood work, but don't even think it; my GP didn't order a single thing, not even an iron test, a thyroid panel, or an EKG... nothing. All she wanted to do was tweak my pill combination and tell me, "just call us back in eight days." Honestly, what is that supposed to achieve? Anyway, I'm from (how cliché can you get?) a small town near 🙄

Hello, is anyone out there?😕
They told me the Holter monitor picked up 238 extrasystoles—those supposedly "harmless" little glitches.
As far as I'm concerned, nothing has changed. Once I finally get this Fever out of my system, I honestly don't know what else I'm supposed to do with myself.🙂

I deal with arrhythmia issues myself—ended up in the ER three times because of fibrillation. Done all the tests: echo, EKG, stress tests, bloodwork, thyroid, Holter (that skipping sensation hit me too), adrenal stuff, aorta... currently on Concor, just bumped it up to 2.5mg per my specialist's advice. Honestly, the move you need to make is getting an electrophysiology study. A cousin of mine who’s a doctor specializing in that field told me yesterday that's the way to go.🙄 🙂I gotta get that done too—but they don't do it here in my town, so I'll have to head over to a major medical center in Chicago...

Honestly, that’s nothing. My Holter showed over 400 skipped beats, and I deal with tachycardia too, but since I don't actually feel anything (not even the skips), there's no need for medication.
