That has nothing to do with theaters or streaming availability. Too often, movies end up on digital platforms in their home countries long before they ever hit the big screen here in the States. Once a film is online, there is always some good Samaritan who will jump on it and translate it immediately—sometimes with great skill, but more often than not, it's a bit subpar 🙂 .

I wish it were that frequent. 😬

If you ask me, this is easily one of the best horror flicks out there 😉

Man, I am definitely going to go check this out!
I've been scrolling through reviews and everyone is absolutely raving about it, but honestly, nothing beats seeing it for yourself...

I'm honestly at a loss for words after watching this last night. To be fair, I had no idea what I was getting into—that’s because for the past two years, I’ve made it a point to completely avoid reading reviews or even glancing at trailers before watching something. Because of that, I went in expecting a cozy little drama, not a full-blown horror flick. And regardless of what anyone else says, this is definitely a horror movie. I have to admit, watching it alone in my dark apartment at one in the morning wasn't exactly a relaxing experience. 🙂

Anyway... My biggest gripe is that the movie constantly reminded me of The Others. If I hadn't seen that film before, I probably would have called this an outstanding piece of work. But as it stands, it just feels like a solid movie featuring an excellent lead actress. I think the director shows real promise (I'm not very familiar with his other work): he knows how to handle actors, how to build a great atmosphere, and how to actually creep out an audience.

It's worth a watch, but it certainly doesn't deserve all the massive hype it's getting.

I just caught this film in theaters, and honestly, it’s even better than I expected.
I have to admit, walking into the cinema, I was flying completely blind regarding what I was actually about to witness—and frankly, thank goodness for that. It helps knowing that Guillermo Del Toro had his fingerprints all over this production in his capacity as a producer.
While the movie certainly calls to mind *The Others*, it doesn't really matter; Americans generally struggle to craft a truly bone-chilling horror flick anyway. It's all just child's play. Both films are excellent, though I found this one to be slightly superior.

Decent movie. Honestly, one of the better horrors I’ve sat through in the last few years. It definitely gives off *The Others* vibes—I see a few other people mentioned that too—but *The Others* is still way better, I guess. Personally, I'm more into those horror flicks that just mess with your head using atmosphere instead of dumping liters of blood and some random, cheap monster on you.

Honestly, the movie was a total letdown for me. I went in expecting something way more substantial, you know? But it just felt like your run-of-the-mill Hollywood production—at least, that's how it landed with me. The plot felt super forced, like they were trying too hard to make things happen, and that spooky atmosphere we all wanted? It didn't really hit its stride until the very end. And personally, I wouldn't even dream of comparing it to Spy. Just wasn't there.

A phenomenal film. It belongs in the same league as "Prophecy."

I haven't actually sat down to watch it yet, though I was scrolling through some reviews just yesterday. I really liked one critic's take—they mentioned this isn't just another tired trope about teenagers getting lost, or some zombie flick, or those cliché movies where girls with long hair crawl out of the TV screen...😁
Anyway, I have pretty high expectations for this one. I see people comparing it to The Others, which, if you ask me, is easily one of the best films ever made...😱- what do you think, boldscout72?😁.

I didn't think about "The Others" at all, but "Poltergeist" popped into my head. Even with those tired genre clichés—like the wife snooping around in the middle of the night while her husband just sleeps through it?!—it’s still a solid movie. Scaring, sad, and beautiful.

Look, even if he drags his feet sometimes—making things feel a bit slow or even just plain boring—and occasionally lets you down by skipping those big, heart-pounding jump scares we all crave (I get why he does it, though), you’ve gotta hand it to him. The direction is incredibly sharp, and he builds this atmosphere that feels totally seamless.
Personally, this kind of movie isn't really my thing, but I have to admit: objectively speaking, it’s a damn good film.

I think I'd put my own impressions of the film like this.

Before sitting down to watch, I found myself praying to God that this wasn't just another cliché story about an orphanage and creepy kids. 🙂

The only part that actually landed for me was the ending, specifically with how everything unfolded and that final revelation of what was actually happening...
