I mean, I’d personally love to be the first one in line for a paycheck, but let's be real—it's just not happening...

And without that cash, it’s even more delusional to expect someone to take on a handle just to moderate. We're all actual human beings here hanging out for a reason, and I highly doubt anyone would agree to just moderate without some kind of compensation—which, like I said above, isn't on the table. It's a solid idea in theory, but totally impossible with this volunteer setup.😉

I was only mentioning it in the context of what if they *were* paid. In my view, if you aren't getting paid, it seems somewhat pointless for someone to moderate without actually participating in the discussions. It's just about the motivation behind it.
Actually, the debate isn't really about whether people should be paid or not, but rather why the moderation works the way it does and why certain individuals end up in those roles. The forum itself is holding up quite well, considering threads like this have been popping up for at least four years now, which suggests the underlying issues—technical or otherwise—are constant. I suppose nobody can really take much pride in that situation.
boldhound8, you're fine; nothing being said here is directed at you. Just for the record.😁

Man, I’m just trying to say don't waste your keystrokes on useless stuff. Better to talk about things that might actually happen instead of wasting breath on scenarios that have zero chance of ever seeing the light of day.😉 Because even if you feel like you're just talking nonsense, people actually read this, and smart suggestions can actually make it all the way to reality.🙂

ps. You clearly have no idea who you're dealing with. Come out to a football game and see how fast you get a red card.🙂😁

A proposal? Honestly, one shouldn't even have to write them down; they should just naturally exist, which I think even Anderson understands. Me giving him a proposal?😁 I don't hold myself in particularly high regard, nor have I exactly discovered fire here. I mean, he probably doesn't care. He’ll keep running with this narrative for as long as it serves him, and if he actually wanted to change things, he would. It wouldn't be an issue. But he won't, simply because it isn't profitable for him. He isn't stupid—we are, and some people even more so. He's operating on a different level, though I won't go so far as to say that.😁

As for how you moderate, I haven't been following the football threads, but I can take a pretty good guess at what's going on there given the nature of the topic.😁 Regarding your other posts, which is how I'd judge you, I think you're perfectly fine.🙂

For crying out loud, everyone’s got their own version of the PZK.😁 Look, I’m just saying—someone is actually reading this stuff. Your outrage, your suggestions on how to fix things? Believe me, someone is on the other side watching it all unfold.😉

Alright, fine. At least we finally agreed that the dream is freaking awesome.😁

Honestly, :z:, it’s kind of a bummer, but because of some of these "smart" moderators, all those old funny threads vanished, and now I have to dig through archives just to find a specific username or an old topic just to get a quick laugh and remember the good old days...

And honestly, compared to the good mods we used to have like Pesica, the ones running things today are pretty much useless... maybe they should try reading her posts as required reading, just to learn how things are actually supposed to be handled... there's a suggestion for you.😁

And boldhound8, seriously, how much longer are you going to sit there and pretend to respect this? The fact remains that Richard Perez3 was against every single proposal and spent her time commenting on posts from some self-appointed (poor thing) pedestal—exactly how it shouldn't be done—and then, somehow, she gets appointed as a moderator. She shouldn't be a mod. Period.
Don't make me laugh; it's already ridiculous enough.😁

Anyway, boldhound8, since we’re already on the subject of wandering off track...
is there actually a master list of all the usernames somewhere...
I was just thinking how I'd love to sit down whenever I have some actual free time, pull out all the most hilarious debates, and compile them into one giant document for posterity...

I know, I know, I'm totally off topic here, so feel free to roast me...

It’s all about perception. Period.😉
Anyway, you're gonna have a bunch of scammers trying to tell you that I’m the one out here chasing their dreams. Please. Total nonsense.😁

Who the hell is gonna know? They probably have like a thousand different accounts running around.😁 One of my heavy hitters. Glock 45Look, a username is just a username, I get it. But there’s actually a whole story behind that one.🤣

No, I don't think so. I know how this works.😁

Who on earth knows? Honestly, there are probably a thousand fake accounts running around.😁 One of the more prominent ones I've noticed is Glock 45. I mean, a username is just a username, I guess, but there’s actually a bit of a story behind that one.🤣

Well, it's pretty well known, really,😁 and I happened to mention them to that person earlier today.🤣

Look, I get it, but let's just take this to the off-topic section..
I'm basically the favorite around here, so they're probably just waiting for me to start talking so they can jump in and welcome me back...
I'll start a thread over there...
Come on, both of you, get over there...

Solving this whole moderator sanction issue is actually pretty straightforward.

Think of moderators as referees. To put it in perspective using a football game—while the match is live, the ref isn't part of the play; he isn't passing, scoring goals, or interfering with the action. He’s just doing his job, which is officiating.

So, moderators shouldn't be jumping into debates using accounts that carry official authority—the ones where other mods can't just hand out a penalty. In other words, when they want to join a discussion, they should use "regular user" accounts that are subject to the same rules, reports, and sanctions as everyone else.

There. I hope that helps settle one truly significant issue, because this symptom of "mod-trolling" is incredibly dangerous to the flow of conversation. At least, that's how it looks in political threads, where you often see mods trolling a topic themselves and then immediately handing out penalties left and right.👎

People were already talking about all of this ages ago over on the sub-forum dedicated to the subject...

Just leave the OP alone.
If I hadn't been playing devil's advocate, this thread wouldn't have even made it to five posts.
As for how much I tend to spin things, you can see my track record in my recent posts over on the PZK forum.
Look, whenever I feel like saying something, I’m going to say exactly what’s on my mind, the way I want to say it.
There hasn't really been much relativizing happening here anyway...
Thanks for listening...

Higgs bosson said:Aside from dealing with an inferiority complex, I honestly don't see any real motivation to waste time on a job that offers nothing but a sense of self-importance—unless you get a kick out of feeling superior to people who can't talk back.

Well, thanks a whole lot for not being a moderator then. ☕

Some people, for instance, are actually willing to sacrifice a bit of their free time just to help this online community actually function.

Higgs boson signature 👍

It seems some users get penalized just for their thoughts, while others are allowed to openly insult whoever they please, whenever they want.

But the absolute worst part is when someone goads you with a blatant provocation, you respond with a bit of grit—not even matching their intensity—and suddenly, boom, you’re handed a strike, while the instigator gets away scot-free. And this happens right here on this PDF... and all over the rest of the forum too.

Out of my own ten or so strikes, I can honestly say only one was somewhat justified; everything else has been completely devoid of sense or logic.
Not to mention those vague, manipulative tactics where, on a thread that has basically functioned as a chat room for months, a moderator suddenly decides to start handing out penalties for being off-topic 🙄, without any warning or prior notice whatsoever...
What a pathetic display!

We users have rules to follow, and if we don't, there is an immediate reaction (though, naturally, it depends on which user we're talking about). However, if we have obligations, then the moderators must also have obligations, rather than just exercising their rights.

Higgs boson said:I see you'd make a great moderator; anyone who isn't on "your side" would probably get banned immediately.
Honestly, I think it's about time they called you up to join the "dream team."

If you actually bothered to read the thread pinned in the corner, you'd know I have zero interest in being a moderator, let alone actually doing it...
And just so we're clear, if you aren't on my side, I wouldn't ban you—I'd just completely relativize everything you say until you didn't matter at all...
Besides, you're trying to drag me into an argument when I already said I wasn't going to engage with the PZK crowd. So, look, some other guy on this forum is basically asking me to just leave him alone...
Is that possible?
😉
