How to permanently revert Facebook to the classic layout

Is there any way at all for us to permanently restore the classic Facebook layout on our computers? Facebook has announced that they will only support the old interface until the end of September, and if anyone wishes to switch back to the classic look, that option is only available for a 48-hour window. Once September passes, the ability to revert will be gone forever.

Could it be arranged so that whenever I launch Chrome, Opera, or Mozilla, they automatically run a script that forces Facebook to display the classic version on my desktop indefinitely?

Might there be some other method to achieve this same goal?

I am asking because for those who are blind or have severe visual impairments, any change to the interface design of a website or software we rely on presents an enormous challenge. Any assistance would be deeply appreciated.

Changes like that don't really have anything to do with which browser you're using or how you prefer to view things; it’s entirely up to Facebook.

I don't personally use Facebook much, but if you're truly feeling passionate about getting the old design back, your only real shot is to start messaging Facebook and begging them to keep the option open... or else.

From where I'm sitting, though, I'd say maintaining two different versions of the site would be way too expensive and just plain bizarre from a system maintenance standpoint.

The only reason they left that toggle active was to give people a little time to get used to the new interface while still clinging to the old one, because honestly, your user habits are everything to Facebook. They want to keep you glued to your screen, and it looks like their new design is doing exactly that. So, at the end of the day, the whole point of this transition is to force everyone to adapt to the new look.

PS: If you're mostly bothered by the font size, try holding down CTRL on your keyboard while you scroll up with your mouse wheel.

In that case, I believe I shall depart from Facebook; after all, I cannot recall the last time I actually composed an original thought there. My activity has been limited to nothing more than offering birthday wishes or occasionally liking a friend's post.

It is certainly something one can live without. I am only asking this on behalf of some truly oblivious friends of mine.

Building on what my colleague mentioned above—they’ve completely overhauled the layout and the entire interface. It actually has nothing to do with which browser you're using... so, you'll either have to get used to the new look or, if you really hate it, just do what you suggested and delete your Facebook account.

I suspect a massive chunk of users are going to ditch Facebook just because this new layout makes everything such a cluttered mess. It’s impossible to navigate. I truly can't wrap my head around how they get paid such astronomical sums—likely an amount most people couldn't even fathom—to deliver something this clunky. You’d think they could at least manage to build something functional, or better yet, just leave the interface alone while it was still working.

To be honest, looking at the new design right now, I actually think Facebook looks pretty sharp. Sometimes Google will even redirect me straight over to Facebook if I'm searching for someone specific.

That said, I’m not really a regular user for a bunch of different reasons. I’m just not a fan of the stuff people link to and share there, and the whole platform feels way too politically charged for my taste. Plus, you know those people who are absolutely wonderful in person but turn out to be total weirdos online? Yeah, they're all over there, and some folks take their profiles and pages way too personally. Another thing is that some people basically live their entire lives on there. It's pretty strange if you ask me.

Back in the day, Web 2.0 social sites were actually quite fun and genuinely useful, but maybe they leaned a little too hard into monetization. It feels like free platforms like Facebook just steamrolled them all, and in the process, they totally killed that original vibe we used to love.

I don't know, I guess I just got used to it. It was a bit of a shock at first, but eventually, it just became part of the routine. Though, if I'm being honest... the old version was better. The design actually had some soul back then—it was recognizable, you know?

Some people are gonna ditch Facebook entirely, and others will probably crawl back later anyway... it's just how it goes. I remember when everyone was losing their minds over the Facebook timeline—all that noise about privacy being dead and the end of the world... people were shouting about it for months, and then, suddenly, nobody even cared anymore.
It'll be the exact same story this time around.

I actually need the old design because of an Add-on I'm running. If you're using Chrome, there’s an Add-on available that lets you get the old Facebook layout back.

Oh, I am well aware. But there is a massive difference between when they introduce changes gradually, bit by bit, or perhaps just a few tweaks here and there, versus when they suddenly decide to completely overhaul the entire aesthetic at once. I am not merely referring to Facebook, but rather to the user experience on any website you might visit.

On my older computer, I tend to use the mobile version of the site, as I find it faster and it lacks all those annoying ads and extensions.
