Having to boot my laptop twice to get it to start

Hey there

1. So, I downloaded an update yesterday (not sure if that actually caused this, but whatever) and when I fired up my laptop today, I just got stuck staring at that Windows 10 activation window and nothing else happens

I tried a hard reboot and everything seemed fine, but then it happened again. It’s happening every single time now. Even when I hit restart, it just loops back to the same damn thing 😢

What the hell is going on?

2. Also, I'm running Windows 10 and trying to download version 1909, but it won't install on my laptop. It keeps forcing me back to version 1809. Does anyone know why? My PC keeps nagging me that my current version is dying. It says: "Your current version of Windows is approaching end of service. We recommend updating to the latest version of Windows 10 to get the newest features and security improvements."

Windows updates are nothing but unnecessary garbage that ends up breaking your system when you least expect it. I personally killed off my update notifications ages ago—did some registry tweaking and then finished the job with a tool called Windows Update Blocker, haha. 😁:

The only thing actually worth doing with this Windows 10 junk is a full offline upgrade to the latest version (and I mean a clean offline upgrade, not those annoying online updates). Since the latest Windows 10 ISO files are too massive for a standard DVD, you’re going to need to install the ISO onto a USB stick instead. There are plenty of ways to pull that off, but I usually recommend using Yumi:

With that, you can whip up a bootable Windows installation USB, run the setup directly from the drive, and just select the upgrade option.

Honestly, just go for a clean reinstall on the latest version. It’s the only way to finally ditch all that junk cluttering up your system—then you can just sit back and reconfigure the essentials from scratch... much cleaner that way.
