So, here’s the situation: I took a pretty nasty soccer ball straight to the eye yesterday, and everything went blurry immediately after. I ended up heading down to the ER, where they checked me out and told me my eye is dealing with some inflammation. They’ve ordered three days of rest with a follow-up appointment this Sunday, and prescribed some Maxitrol drops and ointment. Now, I was hoping someone could help me clarify a few things:

1. Do I actually need to keep wearing that eye patch all the time?
2. Is it okay if I wash my face and get some water near the eye?
3. Am I allowed to watch TV or spend time on my computer like usual?
4. If things don't start looking better, they mentioned the possibility of an injection or even being admitted to the hospital—how likely is that actually going to happen?

I'm sure someone here might have some insight. 🙏

1. You don't need to do it all the time.
2. Sure, you can, just be careful about how you wash him up. 😬
3. It's an option, but honestly, I wouldn't recommend it.
4. It’s actually pretty easy to do. 😬

😛😛

Honestly, you’d probably feel a lot better if you just laid down and took a nap.

About a year ago, I took a stapler directly to the eye—luckily, I didn't fire it out of a handgun, or I wouldn't even have an eye left to talk about. It took about a week for things to settle down and heal up.

You don't need to wear a patch constantly—just while you're showering or washing your face—but if you're heading outdoors, it’s a non-negotiable. As for screen time, I'm not sure if you can watch TV or use a computer normally; my eye would get exhausted incredibly fast, so I mostly just laid around doing nothing. Regarding your fourth question, I honestly can't give you a straight answer since my situation wasn't quite that severe.

Thanks, 🙂
I'm strictly forbidden from going outside right now
and as for the television thing, I don't really see why I wouldn't be able to watch normally, provided I keep this "bad" eye covered.🤷

Look, you can watch TV—I've tried it myself—but trying to do it with one eye open was exhausting; I couldn't even last thirty minutes before my head started spinning. 🙂 Does it feel like your sense of space is getting a bit wonky? Personally, I keep bumping into doorframes 😂

Well, I suppose a little bit of coordination goes a long way. It’s funny how things can just fall apart when you aren't looking. Reminds me of that time back in Chicago when I was trying to organize a simple neighborhood potluck—everything was set, but then someone forgot the napkins, the grill wouldn't light, and suddenly we were all just standing around in the driveway staring at each other. A little bit of synergy, or even just basic planning, really does make all the difference in the world. Just a minor hiccup, I guess. 🤣

About a month ago, I took a basketball to the eye and temple area... vision was blurry for maybe an hour or so. Just kept a cold compress on it and by morning I was good to go..
