Banning people or handing out red cards was never really my style—I’ve always thought it’s much better to just edit the thread title to include a "spoiler alert" warning, so anyone who wants to avoid them can just skip right past...

But apparently, that isn't enough—some people feel the need to type endlessly and make a whole production out of everything... 🙄

To quote my own previous thought:
In certain films, the resolution is absolutely vital to the overall experience and the quality of the work itself.

However, that isn't true for every single movie. For most films, the ending isn't particularly crucial, nor is it even remotely unpredictable. Because it lacks significance in many cases, I guess I don't really mind if someone happens to mention how a film concludes.
On the other hand, I would honestly love to see everyone involved in this thread punished if someone were to spoil the endings of certain other movies. I am referring to those specific films where the entire impact relies solely on an unexpected twist at the very end. But even then, sometimes simply knowing that a twist exists is enough to ruin the tension, leaving you feeling somewhat underwhelmed.

I'm wrong all the time, just like everyone else. But it's a pretty dangerous assumption to claim that "EVERYONE" doesn't know how the sixth sense ends. I honestly have no idea where you're getting that from.
Even if EVERYONE actually knew how a movie ended, knowing the ending is still a spoiler.

It's because it isn't my job to spend 24/7 policing every single thing people write and correcting every little slip-up; if people don't want to be respectful toward one another, then so be it. This thread is supposed to be a place where we all remember that in any conversation (and clearly, that includes spoilers), you SHOULD think about others—that we should laugh at the reveal and think twice next time. But since this place has turned into a venue for bickering and accusations, I don't see the point in acting differently 🙂 seriously 🙂

...I’m sitting here reading through all this, occasionally looking at my own posts (not exactly my proudest moments), and I honestly can't believe it. Everything has gone completely sideways. The way people are treating each other on this subforum—and even within this specific thread—is totally unhinged and way beyond the pale. The real issue we need to tackle is this toxic attitude; things like spoilers and whatever else are secondary issues that will fix themselves once we address the root cause. I really miss when this forum actually felt like a decent place to hang out. It's high time everyone here took some personal responsibility and reined in the constant hostility and lack of basic decency...

Fine. My grandmother doesn't know how Sixth Butt ends. But then again, my grandmother doesn't spend her time lurking on film forums. The people who frequent these boards are supposed to be somewhat cinematically literate, and among such individuals, certain things are simply common knowledge. For instance, whether they have actually seen Passion or not, people generally know that SPOILER: the protagonist gets killed at the end... what a shocker... 🙂

In any case, I have shared my side of the story (at least in a post that was subsequently deleted), unlike some other people here. I was mistaken, so I suppose I shall go pray to ten different saints and offer ten Hail Marys so that I won't 😉

It might actually hold water. It is true that not everyone posting here qualifies as a film scholar. For instance, there is that crowd that shows up just to drop a review consisting of a single smiley face. Yet, even those individuals have almost certainly watched Sixth Butt more often than they have seen anything by Tarkovsky or Fassbinder (whom I would never dream of spoiling).
I genuinely believe that spoiling Sixth Butt is about as redundant as stating that water is wet. Perhaps I am mistaken, but I really don't see any reason why I should be labeled either an idiot or intellectually stunted for it. Besides, as you can see, I have improved my behavior and refrained from spoiling Passion. 🙂

I'm totally against spoilers for any movie, whether it's Sixth Sense or a Forest of Lamentation. Period. That's just how it is.

Honestly, I don't care. But man, I would have lost my mind if someone had spoiled that in Fight Club, where Edward Norton is actually Tyler Durden.

But Shower, how are we even supposed to know what you're spoiling? The sentence goes: But I would’ve lost my mind if someone spoiled that he was in ... (spoiler follows) but there's zero mention of which movie we're talking about. So your "spoiler" is basically just a lottery draw. If you had mentioned Fight Club and then hidden the text in white, we'd know it was a spoiler for Fight Club, but this way, you're just spoiling it for everyone 😁

p.s. That movie was spoiled for me ages ago. Same thing happened with The Usual Suspects 😢
