What's the average daily cost of a hospital stay?

Good evening, everyone.
I have a quick question for the group: my father is currently receiving treatment at the Mayo Clinic, and since he doesn't have any supplemental health insurance, we've been told we'll be responsible for covering the daily hospital costs ourselves. I was wondering if anyone here might have an idea of what the typical daily rate for a hospital stay looks like?

Last year, I had to stay at the Mayo Clinic a few times for treatment. I ended up paying roughly $17 per day, which came out to about $167 for the private suite

Why wouldn't you just opt for the extra insurance coverage? $27 It's only a few bucks a month, and they'll process the claim within 15 days of filing.
I really hope your dad doesn't end up back in the hospital, but honestly, it’s better to have it and not need it than the other way around...

A day in the hospital will run you about $18. If you're looking at a long-term stay, you might want to look into getting that supplemental coverage.
