3D

I was wondering about those 3D movies—is it actually possible to download them from a specific site so I can watch them at home on my computer using 3D glasses, or is that just not a thing? (Like for *A Christmas Carol*, for example)??
Anyone else actually enjoy watching movies in 3D?
One more thing. I heard they even have 4D!
Is that actually true?
If anyone caught a movie in 4D last night, let me know—what was the experience like?

Watching movies in 3D is incredible—it honestly feels like you're right there in the action.
They’ve got 3D, 4D, and even 6D options now.
The feeling? Mind-blowing.
The visuals are stunning:
The sound is top-notch,
and the effects are out of this world.
It's definitely something you have to experience for yourself.

The tech exists, but there just aren't any movies using it yet.

I saw this a few years back and it was quite an experience. Truly quite clever. As Shrek and the gang ride along in the carriage, the seats shake right along with them. Donkey lets out a sneeze on screen, and suddenly you get sprayed with water from the seat directly in front of you. It’s rather startling, actually. 👍

I love 3D. I've seen everything that was released in 3D at AMC Theatres.
So far, the best effects were definitely A Christmas Carol and Final Destination 4.
It's just a shame those movie series that were 3D overseas weren't here (Journey to the Center of the Earth, G-Force, Coraline, etc.).
Really looking forward to Avatar, and there will be more next year.

I've also done 4D or 6D projections—I think they're the same thing—at Disneyland in Italy. You get splashed with water, feel the wind, and all that.
Lucky we live in an era where this tech is being developed. The goal is to put the viewer right in the middle of the action for a full 360-degree experience.

You can buy a 3D plasma TV. Coraline, for example, has a 3D edition on Blu-ray, and it comes with four pairs of glasses.

My Bloody Valentine 3D just hit the shelves here on DVD. They even throw in the glasses with it.

True, but that’s just the old version using those red-and-blue filters on the glasses. I suppose it's fine for now, but honestly, watching a movie like that at home is quite exhausting. At least, it is for me.. 🤷

I saw A Christmas Carol at a local business in Čakovec, and it wasn't even in 3D!!!
That's such a bummer. Apparently, a new AMC Theatres is opening up near Savannah late in 2009, but I can't seem to find where exactly!!!
And man, those 4D and 6D experiences are absolutely incredible!!!!!

I wouldn't go so far as to say it's opening this year. You really ought to see Carol in 3D; it's actually quite impressive.

I'm with you on the movie picks, but I got lucky—I actually caught all those ones that didn't make it here in 3D. I saw Journey to the Center of the Earth while I was in the US, G-Force too, and I even saw Coraline on Broadway. Yeah, Coraline did eventually make its way to America.

Yeah, I seriously don't get this whole glasses thing. Like, am I supposed to be able to watch Avatar 3D without them? I haven't really dealt with this before so I have no clue... can someone just explain how this works?

If you want to watch without glasses, you'll have to opt for the 2D version instead, because if you try watching 3D without them, the image will just be blurry

I have a prescription myself, though nothing quite that intense! I remember seeing a 3D animated movie at an IMAX theater about five or six years ago—just popped on the 3D glasses and everything was totally fine. Since all the action is happening right in front of your face, it doesn't bother me much; usually, the blurriness from being nearsighted only kicks in when I'm looking at things far away.
I honestly think people with farsightedness might run into more trouble with it.

But here's the catch: about 99% of people have roughly the same prescription in both eyes.
In my case, you could say I’m practically blind in my right eye, while my left eye sees perfectly fine.
From what I understand, 3D movies are filmed using two cameras—the left lens of the glasses projects the image from one camera, the right lens from the other, and by merging those two fields of vision, you get the 3D effect (hopefully that makes sense). For me, that merge won't happen because I'll basically be watching a "3D" image through just the left lens.
Has anyone else dealt with this? Anyone who is (partially) blind in one eye? Can you tell me if it'll look normal, some weird half-3D version, or if I won't see any 3D at all?
I really don't want to waste extra $5.00 at the theater only to realize I can't even see the 3D effect.

For a 3D projection, you absolutely need the glasses—otherwise, the image is just a blurry mess. You grab them at the theater. They usually offer a 2D version too; you don't need glasses for that, but you lose out on the impact. I caught Avatar 3D yesterday—it's genuinely impressive. Definitely worth the price of admission.

And it’s only like thirty bucks. If it were actually that easy, people wouldn't be struggling to justify spending $350 on a video game. No wonder this industry is going down the drain.🤣
