Pap smear test

I am curious about the standard procedure regarding Pap smears; specifically, whether a woman is entitled to receive her actual results directly from her physician. My ex-partner has been diagnosed with HPV, and as I am now undergoing my own testing, my doctor is requesting her previous records or recent Pap results to assist with the assessment. However, she is insisting that her gynecologist refuses to release any documentation to her.

If it absolutely has to be part of her official medical record, she can just make a copy—she just needs to ask for it. Unless, of course, she’s just being difficult for the sake of it. 😉

By the way, aren't HPV tests for men somewhat unreliable? I read somewhere that there isn't even a test yet that can guarantee a negative result because the virus can essentially "hide" from detection. Does that mean even if you get a negative test, there's still a chance you could be passing it on?

Men essentially act as carriers for HPV... which means if an ex-partner has it, there's a very high chance you were the one who passed it to her...

Look, if she’s testing positive for HPV, there's a pretty high chance you're the one who passed it to her. Honestly, I’d suggest going online and doing some research on it just to be sure.

And even if you didn't pass it to her, you definitely caught it from her. Most men don't show any symptoms or changes at all.

I hadn't really thought about it from that angle...
my doctor at the community health center mentioned that while women carry this virus, men are often the ones who pass it along. So, if someone is sleeping with a girl who's infected and then moves on to someone else the next day, they're likely going to pass it to her too.

So, here's the deal: I was scrolling through the news this morning and saw that the clinic over on Petrov Street just picked up some high-tech new equipment. Apparently, it’s nearly 100% accurate when it comes to processing samples, which is a massive upgrade from the old Pap smear method we've been stuck with—that one can have a false positive rate of like 60%

I think the article mentioned they're rolling it out starting October 1st.

Does anyone actually know anything about this?

Maybe someone has a link to the news story?

Quick question since I just had my first Pap smear. My doctor mentioned the results would be ready in three weeks. Does that mean they'll be ready during the third week, or exactly after three weeks have passed—meaning I should look for them in week four? Thanks!
