Total Cholesterol - 210 mg/dL
Triglycerides - 185 mg/dL
Glucose - 86 mg/dL

Height - 5'11"
Weight - 212 lbs 😢

Any thoughts on this? I'm mostly looking for advice on how to tackle those triglycerides... what should my next move be?

Watch what you're eating. Your cholesterol levels look fine, but if those triglycerides are spiking, it’s likely a sign of a poor diet or high stress levels. You know your own body best, but looking at your height and weight, I'd put my money on nutrition being the culprit.
Also, what are your numbers for HDL (the good cholesterol) versus LDL (the bad cholesterol)?

Your triglycerides are spiking because you're overloading on carbs—think white bread or pasta.
Try not to mix everything together on one plate. You should probably look into restructuring your meals based on some of those UN diet principles.
Cut out the sugar and soda entirely, and don't even think about touching alcohol. Give your liver some breathing room to actually recover.

But wait, isn't it actually from eating too much fat instead????

That's part of it, sure, but don't forget about this side of things too.

So, what should I actually be putting on my plate... and more importantly, what needs to go?

Metabolism...
If you’ve been fasting for a few days, expect to see fat mobilization from your adipose tissue and acetone showing up in your urine.
Your triglycerides will likely be elevated too...
It isn't exactly groundbreaking science...
Given everything we consume, it's a relief we manage to stay healthy at all.
Since you carry a bit more extra weight, your body is going to prioritize mobilizing those fat stores first.
People think body fat is just some static, unmoving storage, but its metabolism is actually quite dynamic. What do you think?

Can someone actually explain what makes cholesterol spike?
Mine is sitting slightly above 5—both my HDL and LDL are a bit high—but my doctor keeps telling me it’s fine since they keep lowering the upper limits of what’s considered "normal" anyway...
To be honest, I eat way too much junk food and basically live on Coke. Plus, I'm on antidepressants that pretty much tank my metabolism and make me retain water. I'm guessing that's all connected, right...?

It’s definitely connected, and honestly, you just answered your own question regarding why your levels are up. 😉

You really ought to provide a few more details—things like your age, whether you smoke or drink, your activity level, and those specific LDL and HDL cholesterol numbers... Your BMI (body mass index) is sitting at 29.6, which definitely puts you in the overweight category (that’s just weight divided by height squared, $kg/m^2$; ideally, you'd want to see something closer to the 20–25 range)
It would be best to keep a close eye on your diet—specifically, try cutting out saturated fats and swapping them for unsaturated ones. For instance, maybe reach for olive oil instead of standard vegetable oils? You don't need to change your protein intake, but try to get your energy from complex carbohydrates and make sure you're getting plenty of fiber through fruits, veggies, and legumes... And, of course, physical activity is huge—whether it's walking, running, swimming, or cycling.
Good luck! Trust me, you are absolutely going to feel better! 👍
If you're on the younger side, please try to take this seriously; high triglycerides can be a real nasty business if they stay elevated 😢. If your levels don't start dropping through diet and exercise alone, you'll likely have to talk to a doctor about medication—though that really depends on your age, since I don't know how old you are... I'm rooting for you!

Can someone make sense of these results for me? It looks like everything is pretty much within the normal range, except for two things—MPV and TIBC—which I don't recognize. Also, my blood pressure is consistently running low, sitting around 100/60:

Can someone break down what this MPXI abbreviation actually means in a blood test? Apparently, it’s supposed to sit somewhere between -10 and +10—but I'm sitting here at -17.

Hey, I'm eight months pregnant and just got some bloodwork back. A few things are flagging as low. My doctor isn't available until Monday, so I'm looking for some insight here:

Erythrocytes 3.69 (3.86-5.08)
Hemoglobin 114 (119-157) - iron levels seem fine 13.20 (8-30)
Hematocrit 330 (0.356-0.470)

Also, what's this about:

TIBC 88.50 (49.00-75.00) which is over the limit 🤷

Thanks for any input

Think of TIBC as basically how much iron your blood can actually carry.

Since you're pregnant, any slight deviations in these numbers are almost certainly just part of the process...

Just to be safe and rule out anything else, go ahead and get retested about two months after you give birth.
but honestly, I don't think you have anything to worry about...

goldenowl8 - your results look perfectly fine.
