I’ve been thinking lately about heading down to Santa Monica for some specialized treatments. My back has been giving me quite a bit of trouble recently, and honestly, I haven't done much about it yet besides one visit to a chiropractor. I really should probably get some imaging done and ask my doctor for a referral for physical therapy and a seaside retreat...
Since my kid will be heading out to follow the high school ski trip, my husband and I could take the opportunity to go on a recovery trip together.
I was wondering if any of you have been there before? Does it actually help, and is it possible to use a standard medical referral for those therapies?
Please let me know what your experiences have been like!

I headed back to the Spa Resorts of Palm Beach for the second time this year. It wasn’t just about managing the chronic back pain, but proactive maintenance after having surgery on my L4/L5 vertebrae. To be honest, when it comes down to actual physical therapy and targeted exercises, I actually had a better experience at the Hot Springs, Arkansas. Don't get me wrong—the facilities in Newport are flashier and everything feels much more modern, but their focus seems geared toward cardiovascular recovery. If you need serious spinal rehab, the folks over in Hot Springs and Palm Springs are much more dedicated to that specific grind. Personally, I don't think I've ever felt better than I did in Hot Springs; the crew there is fantastic, and they basically throw a party at Minerva, which is part of the Spa complex, almost every single week. Newport is fine if you're visiting during the summer months and want to hit the beach, but otherwise, it's not really my scene. The crowd is definitely older, so there isn't much of a vibe if you're looking for people in your own age bracket.
