The Darjeeling Limited

...and somewhere along the way, my writing just got sloppy... great...😉

...my brain is making all these weird connections... I just started thinking about those highly stylized movies... specifically the fashion side of things... then I thought about that sweet little flick P.S. I Love You and Chanel... and how there’s such a constant rotation of polished new outfits—more than any celebrity could afford in a year—that eventually end up taking over the entire movie...
...and then, bam, here comes my comparison: Darjeeling Limited and that "other" Louis Vuitton collection (ugh, those suitcases—so status-driven, attractive, and timeless, yet so ugly, heavy, and impractical; I honestly love how they pop up throughout the whole film) and our guys (three carefully selected actors and characters who look identical and equally important at first, almost boringly so, but then become so distinct and layered)...
...so, here's the point: for us (sort of) fashion-conscious types, even if it feels a bit forced, that well-executed fashion narrative really added to the soul of the film. It gave it that extra bit of magic for everyone else, too... and it contributed to my obsession with Darjeeling... even with certain parts that felt like they belonged in the Twilight Zone... because everything just kept looping... that village... that bus... but I guess why am I surprised? I waste my own life like that sometimes... just feeling totally out of sync with time...

To me, this was a pretty weak flick—at least compared to what I usually expect when I sit down for an Anderson film. 🤷

That being said, you have to admit that scene where Schwartzman slams himself into the door... 🤣

Nah, it's a great movie.

I just want to go walking through India.

Just finished the movie, and honestly, I thought it was great—especially that woman from India.

I feel pretty much the same way. There's definitely a guy with style, but I don't know, personally, style is kind of fleeting to me. I don't really hold onto it for very long.

I think Hotel C. was a bit better than this one.
