Dealing with a pretty nasty cough

It’s been about ten days now since I came down with what feels like the flu—fever and a nasty cough. The fever only lasted one day, but this cough just won't quit, if you know what I mean.
My doctor prescribed some Ibumetin for the fever or whatever it was.
As for drops—Resyl with Codeine—nothing seems to be helping yet.
When I cough, I feel like the whole apartment building can hear me, and I'm coughing up phlegm about the size of a small teaspoon.🤷
The coughing stops while I'm sleeping, though.
Unfortunately, I'm a smoker.
Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks in advance.

hmm, honestly, I had the exact same thing happen earlier this year—around five months ago—coughing like a total idiot and literally hacking up a bottle's worth of mucus every single day 🤣
I don't want to freak you out, but unfortunately, for me, it turned out to be the start of pneumonia... just a fever for a day or two, but that cough? God, it was brutal 🤣 still a smoker, though...
Tell your doctor you need an urgent referral to a pulmonologist for a chest X-ray, then let me know how it goes

I've been dealing with this cough for two weeks now. It’s disgusting—just constant, thick mucus... and it isn't letting up. I tried taking some antibiotics, but I guess they didn't really do much. I have this feeling it's never going to stop.

Eh... honestly, I've been dealing with this nagging little cold for about a month now—maybe even longer. The first few days were an absolute disaster, but lately, the cough has really started kicking in, along with this intermittent loss of my voice—it just keeps cracking whenever I try to speak.

So, I caught this nasty cold and was stuck with a fever and a totally stuffed-up nose for two days. It’s finally settling down, but man, my cough is absolutely brutal.
It was just this dry, hacking cough for a week, so I figured I'd try some Codeine/Dextromethorphan cough syrup.
Now I'm coughing up some seriously gross stuff.
Thank God I can't actually taste any of it.
I smoke, and honestly, I think it actually helps. When I inhale the smoke and blow out through my nose, it clears things out enough to let me breathe, whereas otherwise, everything stays jammed up.
Everyone seems to be dealing with this right now, so I guess I'm not really sweating it too much.

Look, since it wasn't a full-blown infection—just the start of a virus—I just went straight home, hit the bed, drank warm stuff, blah blah blah, the usual routine... I shouldn't have stepped foot outside for about a month. Mostly just to avoid breathing in that freezing outdoor air and all that. I stayed home for about three weeks (aside from some quick trips to campus for important exams), and I felt fine.
As for the virus itself, I caught it about two weeks ago with a super mild sore throat, a runny nose, and a cough. I didn't really treat it much because I was too busy with college, and I'm okay now—except for that lingering cough. Just a little bit left to hack up, but some codeine/dextromethorphan cough syrup handles it. 👍

Woke up this morning and the cough seemed to have finally cleared out. About two hours later, right when I was getting ready to head to the doctor's office to get checked out and maybe finalize my sick leave, he called me. He said: "I'll come by tomorrow if you're actually feeling better today, so we can wrap up this medical leave."
As soon as I hung up, it started again. But it’s different today—not like before where I was coughing every five minutes. Now, it's more like once every half hour, and without any phlegm (well, maybe twice or three times). 🙂
I think I'll still go in tomorrow anyway. They'll probably just give me a few more days off.

Bronchitis
My doctor saw me and prescribed Zithromax 500mg
one pill a day, then I have a follow-up in three days.

Ha. I've been dealing with bronchitis for years, but this current bout is just brutal. This cough has been tearing me apart for three weeks straight now. I'm already on my third round of antibiotics, and honestly, the only thing it seems to be doing is clogging up my sinuses. Now my head is absolutely killing me too.

I was dying from a cough once too—then I found some Mucinex in the cabinet and it was a lifesaver. Give that a shot; it works wonders for bronchitis and you can grab it over the counter without a prescription.
