So, is there an actual thread for introductions here?

Heh... I’ve been hanging out on about a hundred different forums, and it’s always the same story—on two of them lately, the very first thread after the rules was already a total mess.
Since I couldn't find it here, I was actually kind of surprised.

Personally, when someone joins my own forum, I can't stand it when they don't bother to introduce themselves—so, I guess I won't go breaking my own unwritten rules either.

Yeah... I mean, on those smaller niche forums, having a sub-forum like that is pretty much a requirement. But here? We’re sitting at about 80,000 people so far... so I guess I’m just not quite sure how that would even work in practice 😬

Personally, I find those threads pretty annoying and I really can't stand them—especially when people insist on making them. I'd much rather people get to know me through my actual posts than through some thread that says:

"Hey guys, I'm new. I live in Germany and just stumbled upon this forum.

Hi everyone."

I mean, wtf? 😵 😬 Anyone can tell I'm new just by looking at my registration date and my posts.

Anyway, no, we don't have that kind of tradition here (let alone a rule 😱 ).

Even over on the Yahoo forums—which have a massive amount of registered users—they still have stuff like this.
That’s actually where I learned how to handle these kinds of threads, since it was the first forum I ever really hung out on... though things have gotten a bit hectic lately, so I haven't been able to log in for a couple of weeks.

Just imagine how many of these threads there'd be... 🤣
Honestly, I don't see the point in any of this
and I'm totally on board with this

"It's way better if people actually get a feel for who I am through my posts, rather than some cringey intro thread that goes like:

'Hey girls, I'm new here. I live in Germany and just stumbled upon this forum by accident.
Hi everyone.'
"
I mean, wtf? Like, anyone can tell I'm new just by looking at my post history and registration date."

🙂
