Quick question—is there any actual risk in hitting the beach about 20 days after surgery? Like, am I gonna mess up my scar or end up with a permanent souvenir if I go swimming?
I already know I shouldn't let the sun beat down on the scar for too long...

Where was the incision made? How large was the cut? What was the reason for the surgery... was it scheduled or an emergency?

It’s right on my forehead, tiny—maybe 2 or 3 cm.
I'm actually thinking about growing my hair out just so I can use it as a shield against the sun. Anything to avoid wearing a Band-Aid while I'm at the beach...
The plan is set.

If the wound has healed cleanly and there's no sign of granulation tissue, you shouldn't have much to worry about... Just try not to spend too much time out in the direct sun, but if it's been dry and settled for twenty days, you're good to head out into the ocean.

Thanks, 😁goldencyclist60
btw, what even is granulation tissue? 😕
and how much of it counts as "not too much"???

Well, any wound healing process produces granulation tissue, but things get tricky if you end up with hypertrophic scarring... though if that were actually happening, you'd likely know 😁

What’s the deal with scar creams and all that stuff? Anyone actually have recommendations for what works?
Sweating at the gym? Please. If you aren't drenched, you're basically just paying a monthly membership fee to stand around and look at your phone. Get to work.
