In the English Football League—you know, the Championship, League One, and League Two—they're actually floating this idea about doing penalty shootouts after a draw. The loser would get one point and the winner would walk away with two. I don't really see the logic here. If this happened, teams that were perfectly fine settling for a draw might just say, "Hey, why not? We get the point for the tie, plus maybe we can snag a second one on penalties." It feels like it would just make teams play even more conservatively.

What can I even say? It's total nonsense. Honestly, I doubt the English will even bother bringing this in—it's not like they’ve ever been known for leading the charge when it comes to making actual changes anyway. If anything, this looks more likely to happen over in America.

If you ask me, it’s total nonsense...
I could get behind overtime if they really needed more time, but jumping straight to a shootout? Seriously? 😬

Whatever, honestly... let them just bring it in already.

...it’s complete nonsense, honestly—there isn't a single practical use for it. Just innovation for the sake of innovation, I guess. :triplrolajz:

The point is, you can't just rig the results 😉

Though, honestly, it wouldn't be the worst thing if they did... we could use a little innovation around here now and then 😁

Innovation is a lot like driving through the Italian countryside on alternating odd and even days... It’s all just some half-baked idea from 😁

The thing is, under Miljanic, a win on penalties earned you the point, while the loser walked away with nothing.

But honestly, people, look at the level of competition we're talking about here. In these leagues, they're basically playing for a couple of beers and a cheap BBQ.

So what, the NFL, the Super Bowl, the FA Cup, the Champions League, plus an extra 90+30 minutes?
The players are gonna pass out from exhaustion at this rate.

Look, if they’re actually trying to stop X, they should just stick to extra time after the 90.
Penalty shootouts are nothing but a total crapshoot.🙂

If they don't want us dealing with 90+30, then they better work harder to make sure X doesn't happen.😬

The idea isn't bad because there’s honestly no reason for it to be bad. It just needs some tweaking. For a 0:0 draw, only the winner of the shootout gets a point; the losers get absolutely nothing.

Wasn't this happening back in the old days?

I remember when Real Madrid got absolutely wrecked by a team like that.
They just sat back and parked the bus—ended 0-0, then Real Madrid lost it in the shootout.

Englishmen are clearly getting desperate about penalty kicks, so now they want to force teams to practice them just so the national team actually stands a chance at forcing a shootout for once.🙂🙂

Man, someone clearly had one too many whiskeys before deciding to post this nonsense.

The odds of this actually happening are about the same as finding lasting peace in the Middle East.

Honestly, the whole proposal is just idiotic; it would basically just give defensive-minded teams an excuse to sit back and park the bus.

A draw wouldn't just net them a single point anymore; half the time, they’d be walking away with two.

At this rate, we might as well have specialists brought on specifically to take penalty kicks in the 90th minute... it’s a total circus.

And after Miljanic Miljanic 🙏 🙏 🙏

I've been sitting here thinking about whether we should just settle for a fractional point—maybe a third or even a fifth of a point—for those unresolved cases, or if we should simply go ahead and scrap those disputed points entirely from the tally.

Either just scrap it at 0:0.
