Hmm... This really brings back memories. I definitely need to go watch Asterix and the Vikings.

Why isn't this on DVD? I'm pretty sure I rented this on VHS back in the day... You'd think they would have released it on DVD by now.

I've seen all the Asterix movies, but I had no idea there was one with the Vikings!

Yeah. Though I'm not sure if it's been dubbed into English yet. And just a heads up, it isn't actually based on the Asterix and the Vikings comic. The plot takes a bit of a different turn.

It looks decent🙂 ,but I'm not certain it'll actually be any good.

Every single one has been synced up so far, so this one should be no different. If they release it on DVD, the quality will be better—though personally, I've always had a soft spot for the old VHS vibe. This one feels a bit more modern anyway, since everything up until now has basically been centered around Julius Caesar and Cleopatra...😉😉😉

I’ve been a massive fan of Asterix and Obelix since I was a kid. I actually used to have three VHS tapes at home—though my sister wiped the third one, so I’m down to just two now, lol—and they all had those classic old-school voiceovers. I was just watching Asterix and the 12 tasks today, and the new voices? Absolute disaster. They completely ruined the vibe. Honestly, the original American dubbing was probably the best work ever done on these. Does anyone here happen to know where I can find a way to download all the Asterix films (or even just a few) featuring that original voiceover? If you do, please, for the love of God, let me know... I really need a good laugh! 😁

I’m with you on that. The voice acting in the Asterix vs Caesar cartoon was top-tier. I remember catching it in a theater back when I was just a kid—probably during the late eighties...

The old American dubbing for Asterix is easily the gold standard for all American versions. 🙂

I can't recall exactly which movie featured it, but I’ll never forget when Obelix tells a Roman to "chin up," and—bam!—his sandals are left behind. 🤣
If I'm not mistaken, it was Asterix vs Caesar.

Honestly, even the Mexican Ninja Turtle version had better voice acting than this new stuff...

These new versions are garbage. The classics were high quality—better animation, too. I remember when the Asterix film had one dub in theaters, but then they released it on DVD with a different, much worse version. Same thing with the Smurfs. The TV dub is legendary; what we have on DVD doesn't even come close.

Hands down, my absolute favorite has to be Asterix and the 12 tasks.
Honestly, those newer ones just don't hit the same for me—they aren't anything special. Plus, the voice acting in the modern versions is just so grating!

Here’s my ranking for the best Asterix cartoon films:
1. 1. Asterix in Britain (1986) sign this cartoon is number 1 (total classic)
2. Asterix vs Caesar (1985) (classic)
3. Asterix and the 12 tasks (1976)
4. 4. Asterix conquers America (1994)
5. Asterix and Cleopatra (1968)
6. Asterix Gaul (1967)
Basically, these 6 are the ones with the old-school voice acting, and that's what actually matters...

As for the others, like Asterix and the Vikings or the newer stuff, the plots and animation are fine, but the voice acting just sucks. I just can't get used to watching them without that classic dubbing...

Someone has to 😁 But look, when it comes to that old-school dubbing, we're talking about the stuff that actually matters—you know, Asterix, Conan the Adventurer, those classics from Golden Films (like The Prince and the Pauper or The Christmas Elves), Legend of the North Wind, Batman: The Animated Series, Speed Racer, Action Man, Tom & Jerry, Campi Campi, He-Man... then there’s Burbank Films (Ivanhoe, Green Arrow, Peter Pan, The Three Musketeers... man, there's too many to list, but that's basically everything worth watching on VHS. Those are the real classics... But Asterix is still number 1... and honestly, I've been hunting for Legend of the North Wind everywhere but can't find it anywhere... maybe someone will rip it and dump it on YouTube or some site eventually
