Can someone please explain the actual difference between these two tests? I need to know exactly which stomach issues or changes one picks up versus the other. Lately, my stomach has been acting up—weird pains, heartburn, constant burping😠—so I’m looking to pay out of pocket to get some answers, since I really want to dodge a gastroscopy if I can. 🙂 I’m not even bothering with my primary care doctor right now because even if she actually gave me a referral, I’d be stuck waiting months for an appointment. If I have to wait six weeks just for basic blood work, I can only imagine how insane the waiting lists are for X-rays or ultrasounds...

I’d really love to skip the endoscopy if I can help it. 🙂 I haven't even bothered going to my primary doctor because even if she gave me a referral, I'd be stuck on a waiting list for months. Ugh, tell me about it. I'm wondering the exact same thing, mostly because an endoscopy is totally off the table for me. It's not that I'm being difficult🙂, it's just a physical impossibility. I took a really hard hit to my jaw when I was a kid, and now doctors don't want to take any risks with that kind of procedure. My stomach still hurts occasionally, though. It's actually getting better since I cut back on coffee and started eating regular meals, but there's definitely something going on.😁

They did suggest I consider an X-ray instead. Does anyone here know anything about that? Help a girl out! 🙂

I headed to the ER when the pain became unbearable. They ran a stomach X-ray, did blood work, and concluded it was likely gastritis. For anyone thinking they can skip the wait, try showing up at an ER in the middle of the night 😬

You might be dealing with H. pylori—it’s one of those big-time culprits behind gastritis and stomach ulcers.

Doctors usually track it down through blood work, a breath test, or an endoscopy. From what I've heard, the breath test is currently considered the gold standard for reliability.

The fix involves a triple therapy combo—two different antibiotics plus something to protect your stomach lining—and it drags on for about eight weeks (at least in my case).

Once that's over, hopefully, there's peace. Fingers crossed 😉

I don't have H. pylori; it's just these random stomach pains and nobody knows where they're coming from yet. 😢
