A few years back, I noticed—well, specifically my stylist noticed 😬—this strange red rash on the back of my neck. It doesn't itch or hurt. It starts right around the base of the spine and travels up about 6 or 7 cm along the midline, widening as it goes toward that little dip at the base of the skull 😁. It seems to flare up occasionally, though I can't say why. It’s definitely not from hair dye, since I haven't touched color in a year and the redness hasn't budged. I tried Googling it, but nothing fits. Anyone have any insight? 😕

Anyone have any idea what this could be? 😕

Is the skin peeling there?

Look, if you've had it since day one, it’s really no big deal. It's just a birthmark, right? Some people are just born with them and they can change up over time. Just ask your parents.
But if this thing just popped up out of nowhere, get your ass to a dermatologist ASAP!

It doesn't peel, it doesn't hurt, and there's no itching. It showed up about two years ago. I'm seeing my endocrinologist this week, so I'll bring it up then—it seems to have cropped up right around the same time my hormone issues started. Just wondering if anyone else here has dealt with this? Trying to satisfy my curiosity before I meet with Dr. 😉

My wife deals with similar physical symptoms too. She struggles with hormonal imbalances, constantly claiming it’s all just stress. Is it? Stress is an inevitable part of life, isn't it? Yet, not everyone seems to spiral because of it.

So, I’ve been dealing with this slightly stressful situation lately—and by "slightly," I mean there's definitely some underlying tension and excitement involved—and I've noticed this redness breaking out on my lower neck and upper chest area. It looks remarkably similar to an allergic reaction, if that makes any sense.

Does anyone happen to have any insight into whether this is just some minor physical manifestation of stress, or am I perhaps facing some sort of impending medical catastrophe?😁

Personally, whenever I'm under a lot of stress—or if I'm just feeling angry, jittery, or even slightly unsettled—I get this exact same kind of flushing. I usually just call them "spots" because that's pretty much what they look like. It’s as if I break out all over my neck, chest, and face; I basically turn bright red, if you can believe it. It’s especially noticeable when someone really pushes my buttons.😠
I'm not entirely sure what triggers it, though I think I read somewhere that it might have some psychological roots.🤷

And no, it isn't fatal.🤣 If it were, I probably would've been six feet under a long time ago.😂

It’s actually quite common. I know a woman who experiences the exact same thing whenever she has to present in front of a large group, like when she's leading a major corporate seminar or something similar. It’s just a bit of stress, really; our minds can be such fickle things. 😉

It sounds like a type of stress-induced dermatitis. I deal with something similar myself because my job keeps me in a state of constant, chronic stress.
I don't think there’s a magic pill for it, honestly; it’s mostly about trying to manage your nerves and stay calm. It might also help to take some zinc, since it's great for skin health and generally useful for dealing with those kinds of neurodermatitis issues.

Hey everyone... I'm seeing those exact same symptoms too. Redness, specifically patches on my neck and chest area. During the winter, I just hide them under turtlenecks, but summer is right around the corner. Oh boy...
