Does anyone here have any insight into Prader-Willi or Angelman syndromes? I'm trying to wrap my head around what actually defines them

I’m just coming across these syndromes for the first time, but here is what I managed to dig up online:

Prader-Willi Syndrome:

http://www.pwsausa.org/index.html

Angelman Syndrome:

Well, that’s exactly why I’m asking... 🙂 I stumbled upon them while reading an article about autism, but they were just mentioned in passing without much detail. I'm really trying to get a handle on the specific characteristics of each. Thanks—I'll definitely be diving into those links you shared to learn more...

Richard Lee9, you can find more info on the syndrome here: http://www.pregnancy.com/article...0pregnancy

or right here:
http://www.mayoclinic.org/?section...sti&bid=3379-0

The characteristics vary significantly from one child to the next, depending on the severity and how the condition developed. For instance, some may experience intellectual disabilities, while others might have a relatively high IQ.

We are actually working on launching our own website soon, which will host comprehensive information at the Angelman Syndrome Foundation website.

It’s important to note that Angelman doesn't share the same traits as Prader-Willi Syndrome, even though both result from issues with the same 15th chromosome. One of the most defining features of Angelman is the frequent, characteristic smiling.
If you want to dive deeper into this, feel free to reach out via email at info@angelmansyndromefoundation.org or message me here.
